Pressure is growing on Senate Republicans to call Lev Parnas, an associate of President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, to testify in the impeachment trial.

Democrats are opening the door to hearing from Parnas as a witness at the impeachment trial after an explosive round of media interviews and new evidence released by House Democrats, which details Parnas’s role in trying to convince the Ukrainian government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.

The revelations, Democrats argue, underscore the need for witnesses and documents — something Republicans have so far resisted.

Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.) became the first Senate Democrat to call for Parnas to testify, telling MSNBC that the accusations levied by Parnas “should be pursued and should be reviewed” by the Senate.

“I think he should be brought before us so that we can determine his credibility. There are many ways to judge credibility,” Harris said.

Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) endorsed that effort, saying Parnas should be added to Democrats’ list of impeachment witnesses.

“Mitch McConnell cannot be allowed to cover up the truth and protect Donald Trump. The Senate must hear directly from John Bolton, Mick Mulvaney, and Lev Parnas,” Markey tweeted.

They want a circus with this POS that has zero credibility. I have a feeling Rand Paul and Cruz are correct: that the dems will get their witnesses and the GOPe POS won't allow Trump his.

We need to pressure Turtle to have a vote of dismissal. As Gowdy said, the dems goal in this is to piss off voters against the GOPe POS and GOP in general; so the dems win the Senate majority.

This is exactly what I was wondering. The GOP better get off their asses and get a handle on this bullshite or they are going to be out of power for a very long time and our republic is going to be fricked six ways from Sunday. This is nothing but a clown show and being in the majority they should shut it down with a quickness.

They can't but The Hill is another mouthpiece for the DNC and thus this is how they are getting their message out. There is no legitimate pressure on Senate Republicans to call this douche as a witness. Any pressure that is being applied is being applied by House Democrats (irrelevant) and the media (irrelevant).

Between this and what is happening in Virginia could be the makings of a New Party or the revival in strength of the Tea Party

The way I understand it, is the dems will cite whistle blowers protections and him haw their BS and the GOPe will cave.

This is news. They are slowly getting maybe to a vote of dismissal. WJC had a vote of dismissal that didn't pass but they had the vote.

3-4 GOPe and Romney are stopping dismissal.

Senate Republicans are discussing speeding up the pace of President Trump's impeachment trial by using the trial rules to limit the number of days each side has to make opening arguments.

Republicans, according to senators, are discussing giving both Trump's legal team and House managers 24 hours to present their case, similar to the 1999 proceeding. But unlike the Clinton trial, each side would have to use their time within two days.

"We're going to give both sides a full and fair opportunity to present their case. ... Phase one is going to be the opening arguments from the House managers and from the White House. Each will have 24 hours spread out over two days to present the arguments they want," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said during an interview with Fox News on Friday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) separately said the House managers would get a "couple of days" to present their initial case. Meanwhile, Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) told reporters at a brief Senate session on Friday that the idea was under discussion.

“I'll be interested to see whether or not that gets elongated over a few days, but I think the going in posture is two, 12 hour periods," he said.

The discussion among Republicans underscores the growing anxiety in sections of the caucus to quickly acquit Trump after a weeks-long standoff with House Democrats has drawn out the impeachment fight. Some senators, including Graham, have expressed an eagerness to get the trial over before the Feb. 4 State of the Union address.

If GOP leadership moves forward with the plan, the language would be included in a forthcoming resolution, being drafted by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), on the trial rules. The resolution is expected to be debated and passed by the Senate on Tuesday.

A Republican leadership aide, asked about the time requirements, noted that the resolution isn't final until it's released.

"Pressure"

Let's determine how to alleviate that "pressure".
If witnesses are called, they will include Eric Ciaramella, Schiff and members of his staff who colluded with Ciaramella, Ciaramella's attorney who called for a coup against the POTUS in early 2017, Victor Shokin, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, etc.

If they want witnesses, bring 'em on! In addition to ripping their guts out on national TV, the trial would last through SuperTuesday. Be careful what you ask for.

I don't think the Dems actually want anyone to testify. They get their kicks by just talking about how juicy secrets are being withheld by OMB. In fact, I admit I had been wrong about Parnas having been ignored by House Dems during that phase of impeachment. Turns out he had been subpoenaed, but by all accounts Dems never bothered to actually schedule his testimony....never set a date. Hmmm. Wonder why? They could have gotten these silly arse Parnas documents during House phase. Chose not to, and instead snuck it into the info that just went to the Senate.

Lol they know nothing's there or anywhere else to help them. Their game is to play games with the public.

Add the IG who started all of this with his report, fully knowing the whistle blower complaint was partisan. The IG abused the whistle blowers rules.

Great witness list but keep in mind Rand and Cruz are warning the dems will use their media to scream foul so none of Trump's witnesses are allowed. The dems usually get their way and the Romney types and the GOPe surrounding Turtle usually cave to the slightest things.

Remember this is how they started it. They NEVER thought Trump would release the tapes of the conversation, they thought they could scream and scream about it and leave the uniformed believing the MSM...then he released it.

Same here, to NC point, they really dont want all those witnesses called in defense of Trump. But they can scream about "fair" etc. and when its dismissed they can scream it was railroaded. It will open the door for impeachment 2.0.

If GOPe cross the aisle and vote for witnesses to be called they are probably toast in their state. If they voted for witnesses to be called and then against Trump's witnesses being called, they are definitely toast, not just from being reelected but misery if they ever intend to live in their home state again.

However it ends, Trump will not be convicted of anything and he will garner far more votes than if it had never happened.

Congress working two straight 12-hour days?

Sure.

If there is any evidence (yes EVIDENCE) Parnas has it should be brought to light. Right now it is just another wild arse accusation like what was happening to derail the Kavanaugh nomination.

The Senate should not give credence to a smear campaign - ever. From all indications this Parnas guy is a known hack.
