I hate it when competent adults with life experience get in the way of brain washing kids. Socialism is good right?

Nothing, but we don’t have any confirmation that it’s even real. Or what school district etc.

It's also stupid in that, by doing this, teachers are implicitly admitting they are trying to indoctrinate instead of educate.

When I was like 25 my dad lectured me about not knowing what college campuses were like these days. I had graduated like 3 years prior, and he not graduated high school (no shade there- left early, joined the military, and worked his way into a very successful civilian job).

I mention it because I sat there wondering how he knew about these elaborate brainwashing techniques that had little in common with my experience. Not to say I never encountered liberal view points. I did. But I feel that way in this thread too. What in the world did I miss in high school?

That doesn't even make sense. It's the teacher's job to discipline the children in a school setting anyway. If you feel like you have to change the way you operate with children because the parents are watching, I don't trust your normal procedures.

I don’t see a reasonable explanation of why an adult- any adult- shouldn’t be allowed to view their sessions. What are they trying to hide?!?! What else has such little oversight that it’s “kids eyes only”!!?
It's privacy. How much right/ability do you have on a normal school day to just go in and observe every class in person?

If I got that message I would 100% observe them. And record it too.

Many teachers are great and some are dumb as a box of rocks. Their classes should all be recorded. Kinda like cops and body cams.

Years ago, I think around the time of the first Obama election, there was a teacher caught on cell phone video spouting leftist non-sense. I posted on another political board there should be video in the class room to insure teachers AND students are doing the right thing. I was verbally assaulted by dozens of teachers - seems they don't want to live in the REAL WORLD.

How often did you go observe classes at the local high school before corona?

school observation is totally normal. my wife was thinking about homeschooling because of the changing nature of my job and she went and observed our son's class for a day. we loved the teacher, school, and principal, but we realized our son was really doing about 2 hours of actual school work a day and the rest of the time was spent handling children and teaching down to the lowest denominator in the classroom. we weren't upset with that, but we decided to keep our kids home to have more time with them. it was a fun few years where we got to be together a lot more often and my wife and kids were usually done by lunch every day.

now they're in a classical school and we are expected to stay engaged with every lesson they have.

BS on privacy calls by teachers. Schools are PUBLIC. Teachers can control the audio and video of any student that is acting out, so no issue there. They can send a clip of the said child PRIVATELY to the administration or to the kids teachers if they want.

BS on confidentiality. If a teacher is going to say something in a open classroom - be it real or virtual, it's no longer confidential. Confidential conversations need to happen one on one, either in person or on-line.

Teachers don't want to be held accountable - that's the bottom line. Some are leftist activist, some are just plain incompetent - but either get used to the new world or learn how to dig ditches.

And you’ll be asked to leave if it’s constant.

Same here.

“Hey teach - was trying to figure out what’s going on with johnnys geometry issues- mind if I listen in for a bit tomorrow?” wouldn’t be met with any substantial resistance, realistically.

“Excuse me I don’t think you’ve been teaching this right because I’ve sat in every day and have shared video with my message board friends and I’m interrupting the class today” will be frowned upon greatly.
