The U.S. has a long history of both “helping” and destroying drug cartels and traffickers.
It’s about time, the CIA, US Special Ops, et al, start planning the destruction of Mexican cartels — via espionage, drone attacks, and digital warfare - with the last resort being targeted smart bombing missions.
We did it in Afghanistan, it needs to be done in Mexico.

How do you think the very first upstart cartel took a bunch of teenage farm boys and heavily armed and trained them? They just didnt pick that up by watching Mexican TV
And when that cartel good too big for its britches, how did the revolutionaries (Noreiga, Ortega) or another upstart cartel get armored up and trained in just a quick fashion to take on the established cartel?

Firearm ownership is illegal in Mexico. I seem to remember a story coming out of the Obama administrations where OUR government was supplying guns to the Mexican cartels. We are neck deep in that shite, and nobody cares.
