Yep, that’s how politics works. Everybody knows that the GOP is full of deplorables, just like the dems’ base is full of deplorables.
Good representatives don’t make it a point to continually bash the opposition, painting them all as deplorables. That’s irresponsible. Trump is irresponsible.

I think criticism of the free press is taught in “Divisiveness 101”.

Trump knows what he is doing. Release the call that didn't have issues. Tell his followers see this is the perfect phone call nothing wrong. His followers eat it up and are convinced he is cleared.

And the vast majority of the time, they are reporting well-sourced, true, unflattering information that doesn’t fit Trump’s narrative at the time.
Enemy of the People comments don’t come out until the news is damaging. Even when the news is irrefutable, Trump claims it as fake news. Take for example, his “shithole comment”. He said it in front of the WH Press corps in a meeting that wasn’t open to the public. This is a group of around 30 reporters. They ALL heard it and reported the same story. Trump denied it and called the The Enemy.
Trump isn’t qualified to tell me what is and what is not legitimate news. He has zero credibility.

OMG, he actually congratulated someone who had just won a close political election and he INVITED HIM TO THE WH. This is completely unacceptable Bribery and extortion of the highest degree I have ever seen. Watergate looks like nothing compared to this blight on our republic. I am not sure where he mentioned Biden or investigations in this call, but I am sure it was implied from the pauses between sentences. I also "caught the code." Obviously the statement that his English needed to be improved was meant to show he was ready to trigger a false investigation into perfectly innocent public servants. The shame. The shame.

True, most stories end up being true, but the trump era has seen a HUGE increase in major stories that had to be retracted or corrected in a major way. This mostly involved the Russia investigation.
There have been websites that have tracked retracted stories and there was a huge surge starting in 2017

Lots of stories to track, sloppy journalism and fact-checking.
Heated political environment. Profit motive might push the boundaries of good journalistic practice.
POTUS repeatedly calling journalists “The Enemy” might make them more zealous to pursue the damning story.
Political operatives know all of this and are likely to use shoddy journalism to their advantage.
But by and large, the stories, especially those most damning to Trump’s credibility have proven to be true.

The average person is attracted to drama, division, and negative news stories.
A profit seeking entity wants to get customers, aka they have to market to average person
This is why we have such awful, divisive cable news and these god awful 5 person panels screaming at each other every night. It gets the viewers and the money
The alternative is state-owned media which is way worse
The solution lies in radically changing what type of news the average person is attracted to.
And I say that as a radical capitalist

Listen brain surgeon, no public figure in American history has been so maligned, insulted, blatantly lied about and falsely accused as Donald Trump. And to his credit he just keeps on trucking, doing his job to the best of his abilities and trying to make the US the best it can be in his eyes. As he swore to do. He is not in this for the money, the guy won't take a dime. He is in it because he knew he had something unique to offer. And that something is L-O-G-I-C!
Yes he is a glory hound and is driven to please and get glorified. He works like a Trojan and makes human mistakes but he makes them wide open and with good intentions. And has done a great job in the face of the slanderous media and a dem party who doesn't give a damn about the damage they are doing to our wonderful country.
