I am in agreement this whole thing is a farce, but the point of the whistleblower law (as it is written) is to protect the informant. It is almost entirely devoid of consequences for the person (presumably) acting in good faith. As with most things in the government, it appears politicians are weaponizing the lack of boundaries and status quo within the political system.
It's a shame because the law is a good one that helps to protect the people, instead it's being used as another way to attack an elected official for political gain.
