I don't want taxes raised. I want the sales tax to expire and I don't want the income tax raised. I'd be willing to deal with taking 1/8th, at most 1/4th of the temp penny and making it permanent.

The GOP wants to cut spending - a situation I completely agree with.

Why do we never hear from them, exactly what they want to cut?

Why are they not screaming about cuts? Why are they not talking about specific things to cut?

Why are they not willing to consider getting rid of IB's favorite tax credit?

It is insanely infuriating to me that these clowns don't want to raise taxes, don't want to cut spending, and don't want to call for a constitutional convention to fix this mess.

We have by far the worst governor in the country when it comes to leadership, and yet Honor Code's leadership ability run circles around any of our legislative leaders.

It the Diaper-Lover had won, we might have a better governor, but we still have the same tards in the House, and we will still have "Republican" Alario calling the shots in the Senate.

Every day at 9 am, they should be holding a press conference taking JBE/Dems to task, for refusing to approve their cuts. Every day, they should be holding votes on what to cut.

Every time the GOP announces specific cuts, the Democrats, and the their media, scream about how important that thing is until the sheeple start nodding in agreement.

At least half the "Republican" members of the Senate and a large enough proportion of the house aren't really Republicans. They were democrats up until 2007 and only changed because Jindal was elected governor (see Alario).

They only changed parties to get re-elected, but never changed their positions.

They're not cutting spending. They will do as the governor tells them because the governor is king.

There will be no cuts. There were never going to be cuts. The legislature is and always will be nothing but a den of self-serving sycophants serving at the governor's behest only putting up the most timid of resistance when politically expedient.

You need to listen to Moon Griffon, he frequently has republican legislators on. If you think anybody can lead that pack of rejects and retards I dont know what to tell you.

My message to younger residents (including my own children) is simple: get the frick out.

Then pass 900 million of taxes and go home and worship at the altar of JBE.

The doing nothing - while spending $60,000 a DAY in special session - is what it is crazy.

If they are not going to cut anything and are closet dems, then pass the taxes and go home.

They can't even put one of their own up to lead themselves.

The ones not from the Baton Rouge area are paid per dium and milage to be here. This means extra money for the legislative staff. Like I said. They're not fiscal conservatives. They exist to take as much taxpayer money as possible.

Thankfully, the worst of the worst entrenched legislators will be term limited out of both houses soon.

They are hamstrung in the budgetary process due to the multiple amendments to the state constitution passed over the last 20 or so years that basically protects 75% of the budget so that all that is left to screw with is higher ed and health and hospitals......the real goodies are protected and must be funded.

Can Mr Westwego swap back to the House? Or is the three term limit a lifetime limit?

And you are right - they are not fiscal conservatives. Which is pathetic.

Then every morning at 9 am, have a press conference and talk about the need to call a constitutional convention to fix this.

The fact that say, "Oh, dedications can't be cut" and then walk away from it makes me believe they are perfectly fine with all the protected spending.

From my conversations with non-RINO GOP legislators is that they don't trust the turncoats like Alario not to derail a Constitutional Convention so they're trying to wait them out and pray that a Republican unseats JBE in 2019 so they can call a Constitutional Convention and actually have a shot at some real reforms. In the meantime, they're taking it up the tailpipe like the pre-William Wallace Scots. I think having Gervich replace Villere will help tremendously at getting some kind of consistent message out there.

Because by law certain ings are off limits to cut and must be funded fully. take for instance the Louisiana Department of Culture recreation and Tourism tat saw its budget increase from 40,000.00 of dedicatd revenue in 2005 to 10 million by 2015 or the Atorney General's office that has grown 239% in dedicated monies or wildlife and fisheries which grew from 62 million to close to 120 million.

Te legislators can't touch that money without changing the law or getting rid of Amendments to the LA constitution which require you the voter to get off your crawfish eating arse and read the damned Amendments that they slip in at every election.

Bitch about JBE all you want, but he's not the problem the legislature is the problem and you the lazy voter is the problem

1) I'm not bitching about JBE at all - this thread is about the idiot "GOP" legislators

2) There's a reason I vote against every single damned amendment.

Interesting. I wish that message would be out in the public. But I can see where that might be problematic politically.

Yup. I do feel sorry for the true GOPers. There aren't many of them. They need to stand up for themselves.

That's the b.s. that they always spout. They, along with the RINOs and Democrats have a lot of common interests in keeping the state constitution almost like it is whether guys like Alario are in or not. A Republican gets in and Voila..... he can solve the problem......not. Is anyone going to touch the homestead exemption in any way shape or form? Nope. Will they bring sanity to the tax code and at least reconsider the Stelly( Mike Foster supported) plan repeal which actually stabilized revenues . Will they stop whoring themselves out to the film industry?

Personally, I think they like taking it up the tailpipe, it makes them look like victims to their constituents in that it looks like they are fighting the good fight. Elect a Republican, or Democrat in two years and I will guarantee that no matter who is in, nothing will change. Nobody will like the realities of what needs to happen.

The republican members of the legislature have never identified cuts to fill the hole. When JBE rolls out his cut filled budget, the GOP says he’s faking and it will never happen. Then they do nothing to either cut or stabilize the tax structure.

It’s way past time for the legislature to do its job but they refuse to do it. And all the while it is the republicans who won’t get off their asses and get it done. JBE doesn’t have a vote in this process.

A lot in this thread I agree with.

As that wise sage Rep/ Kenny Havard said "they don't have the guts to cut and they don't have the guts to raise taxes."

Fiscal conservatives are hardly a majority in this state despite the republican advantage.
