i grew up deeply conservative (one of my prize possessions was a flag that flew over Reagans White House), the rest of my family still is, and I was told that we believed in being free.

believe it or not, most liberals are exactly like most conservatives in the single most important way; more than anything else, we just want a simple and happy life.

I actually don't think its healthy to play along with people who want gender reassignment, I think they're mentally ill and need help from a psychiatrist rather than a plastic surgeon, but it's their life, not mine. Im not above them, and have no right to tell them how to live.

No, that is simply how it is depicted in code. Binary means a switch, more specifically on and off.

In terms of gender, there is no on/off. One could interpret it as the presence of a Y chromosome, I suppose, but there are people with three chromosomes (XXY and XYY), but they are rare.

We could debate if gender is binary or not, but the main definition of binary wouldn't fit even if we agree there are just 2. It's a bad word for the debate as a whole.
