I am genuinely curious as to what is going on here.
Trump negotiated the current trade deal we have with Canada. Now he acts like we are being ripped off on the trade deal.

That is the goal! Trump wants a totally free market world economy......and unbalanced tariffs interferes with that goal.

We can handle Canada one on one, because they don’t have cheap labor! But free trade with any country south of us does not work!
