Ah the luck part.
Good morals and being a decent fking human being have nothing to do with "luck".
It's a decision that often requires sacrifice and hard work.
Framing it as "luck" shows how out of touch with reality you are.

How does one select that they'll be born to parents with good morals?

And some of that is instilled into you by having good parents. Even Roger credits this.

So two questions, why did your parents choose to stay poor?
They didnt. Pop worked his way up to manage the plant, my mom ended up owning her own shop.
Thats exactly how you work your way out of the lower classes. Anyone can do it.
You dont believe people can be successful because youve never found success.

Every kid in my hood became successful.
Graduated college, etc.

Doesn't sound like you personally were really poor unless they found that success long after your adulthood. And it's likely they were well on their way there by the time you graduated highschool.

You wanna talk about luck?
Our poor were lucky enough to be born here. Where they have unlimited upwards mobility. A country where one of the top earners on YouTube for the last 5 years has been a child making multi millions of dollars frickING REVIEWING TOYS.
Where our poor have access to high speed internet. Get free cell phones. Have access to any meal they want delivered to them. They have protections and guarantees. They have safe havens. They have resources. They have options.
You want to talk luck? No one on this planet has more luck than the poor and downtrodden born in America.
They could have just as easily been born in Iraq. Gaza. Sudan. North Korea.
Instead they are born here, in America, where they can complain and bitch about how the government didn’t give them the right kind of milk because they need “almond milk” from
Their government issued phone on their government paid internet plan, in their government subsidized housing unit.
But keep on with the “they’re unlucky” bullshite

When my dad got out of the airforce and started working, he made a buck an hour.
It sounds like you dont believe in merit, or working your way out of poverty.

Or because I understand that white men are privileged?
Like it or not, good or bad - it was more that white men in charge was how it was. I could also argue that working 60 hours per week, traveling like a madman, and missing out on a lot of kids stuff is hardly a privilege compared to being a stay at home mom. I know my wife wouldn't have traded places with me for anything.
But the main point - those days are over. In corporate America today you are far more "privileged" the further you are from straight, white and male. The president of Harvard is not an anomaly in 2024.

there is no privilege like white female privilege.

And white women like her benefitted all the way, never complained.

Without knowing when this happened it's difficult to have context. And I'd imagine he had some savings from his time in the service.

American poor are middle class relative to the rest of the first world and upper-middle class relative to non-first world.

Kids born into wealth are far less likely to believe in personal value.
Most progressives believe luck dictates their lives, they dont believe in merit.

So why were they at first then? We're your grandparents choosing to be poor originally? Who along the way in your family decided to be poor?

What did he work his way up from? Was he like janitor to manager? Line worker? Sounds like he leveraged hard work and opportunities that came along here.
Where did your mom get the money to purchase that business or start up funds to build it?

I've never said I didn't. I said that hard work alone won't make you successful. People can be very successful despite their start. Usually like yourself though it starts by getting great parents or role models in their life.

When I was teaching in public schools, I had several students who didn’t have food to eat at home.
As a teacher it was your duty to report the neglect. Why did you let those children starve?
With all of the programs available the only way a child would not have food is if they were being neglected.

What is poor to you?
He has to be a victim and a hero at the same time. I honestly don't believe much of anything he says about his life. He's trying to paint a picture.
He'll tell you anything to prove his bs point.

Sounds like he was probably lower middle class at worst and not poor
