Do you have the source for whatever study made that graph?

It's not a study. Do you doubt the info? It's well known that gun ownership is way up and that gun homicides/violent crime is way down since the 90s..

I dont put a grain of salt in any random chart that doesnt have a source on it. Regardless of my personal feelings on the subject.

Anyone with microsoft paint can make a chart showing correlation between 2 things.

The chart does list the sources at the bottom.

It's could be a little misleading if you consider something like 3% of owners own half of all guns (not exact - IIRC).

I was part of the 3%, until I lost most of my firearms in an unfortunate boating accident.

If someone is trying to argue, as I jokingly implied, that "more guns = less violence" then that might be true..but it kills the "more guns = more deaths" trope

Taken to its logical end, putting a gun in the hand of every potential victim means that only the most foolish people with a death wish would ever think to threaten violence against someone else. Why shouldn’t we strive to encourage and maximize responsible gun ownership and minimize “gun free zones”?

BamaATL would beg to differ! He/She has peer reviewed articles that claim more guns = more gun deaths.

John Lott is the top source on the subject. Gun ownership reduces gun crime at both city and state levels. Conversely, gun control laws increase gun crime.

well, this is the problem I have with basic graphs like in the OP, because you can argue this as well in chart form

I know that's a lot (I may or may not be close), but damn, that makes me think of some outliers. I know an older man in the boonies who has an underground walk-in safe with AT LEAST 200, and probably millions of rounds of ammunition. He's my baw when the shite goes down.

Mother Jones is a communist publication. You do realize that don't you?

Well, one chart lists “gun homicides” and the other “gun deaths”. Maybe Mother Jones can try not lumping in suicides to get to the point we’re trying to discuss?
