Both the OMB and CBO needs to show their work. I think both have skewed their numbers.

but also that defense and maintaining our borders are among the few true roles of government so I’m ok with spending in those areas. I am wary of the military industrial complex

I agree with maintaining a powerful military, but don’t understand giving them more money without any effort being made to allow DOGE type evaluations to be made and when the Pentagon fails every audit that’s occurred in the last 30 years and laughs about it afterwards.

This is correct, Russell Vought works directly for Trump.

Chip Roy is on the House Budget Committee, voted in favor of the bill and he says that it adds to the deficit for the first five years and only then starts to reduce the deficit.

Vought's career has been spent developing policy, including for that oh so revered institution that conservatives believe is infallible called the Heritage foundation.

Chip's career has been spent campaigning for Cornyn, advising Cornyn on legal issues, ghostwriter for Rick Perry, campaigning for Perry, lobbyist for Perry to get government funds, CoS of Cruz, campaigning for Cruz. In essence, Chip is nothing but a politician with little experience outside of working directly in politics.

Chip has spent his entire career running campaigns or working in jobs given to him by those politicians he worked for. He is praised for his legal knowledge, not his economic prowess. I remember a time when conservatives didn't want career politicians.

Vought, on the other hand, has spent years writing conservative policies, including for Heritage.

The only reason the TDS conservatives are not listening to someone with Vought's credentials over Roy's is because they don't like what he says. Conservatives have to pick and choose the numbers they like, even when they are from the same source. This is why you see them claim CBO's numbers for the deficit but refuse to acknowledge the CBO's own tariffs numbers.

Does Vought work for Trump? Is he an independent source? Because you didn't seem to address that or how it might influence his opinion/estimates.

As always it depends on the definition of "cut". I've seen cases where a reduction in the amount of annual increases is called a cut.

Exactly. The morons in here saying this “cuts” spending $1.6 trillion are simply lying to you. They are not cuts. They are reductions in the rate of growth.

Moreover, these “cuts” are over 10 years, and they really don’t kick in until year 5.

We are running $2 Trilion deficits.

If trimming around the edges makes you feel good, well, you’re part of the problem in my book.

There is no other threat greater than our debt. Not China, not immigration.

Truth be told… Trump tax bill will add $2.4 trillion to the deficit and leave 10.9 million more uninsured.

It's just word play best I can tell.

They reduce it 1.4T if you took what exists today and extend it over the same 10 year curve, but over that same 10 years it's still going to be over 30T.

Fast forward to 2035, and our debt is 38T instead of 39.4T.

Congrats to all.

bullshite. They'd have been talking about this the whole time. Dems have decided not to call this bullshite out because they also want the pork.

This is the agreed to line of bullshite enabling the passage of this bill.

Haven’t most presidents promised spending would save $ down the road? Yet here we are…

Believe it when I see it. Which would take years. And likely reversed by next administration somehow.
