Letterman also cast doubt on CBS’s claims that the show was cancelled for financial reasons.

“TV may be not the money machine it once was,” he said. “On the other hand, what about the humanity for Stephen and the humanity of people who love him and the humanity for people who still enjoyed that 11:30 respite? He was dumped because the people selling the network to Skydance said, ‘Oh no, there’s not going to be any trouble with that guy. We’re going to take care of the show. We’re just going to throw that into the deal. When will the ink on the check dry?’ I’m just going to go on record as saying: They’re lying. … They’re lying weasels.”

Letterman had a pretty good show, but he became yet another left-wing mouthpiece the last several years and his show suffered.

He's also a real jerk. And, obtw, he's lying thru his teeth here because back in the day Letterman would've bren fired in a heartbeat if his show had been losing even a fraction of the money that Colbert's show was losing. Most people can't stand Stephen Colbert and weren't watching.

Lack of talent and low ratings sure seem legitimate to me.

Biggest mistake Dave made was sticking around after the revelation of him shagging several women staffers. The embarrassment, the entitlement, the ingrained resentment of being discovered via blackmail... he changed after that. Maybe before that too, even but definitely he wasn't the same Dave afterwards.

And certainly since then, he's grown bitter at not just Trump, but the world in general. He was damaged before his TDS. That only made it worse.

Pretty sure when Conan spoke at the Oxford Union last year or so, he said that YouTube was killing late night TV.

Why doesn’t Dave pay his bills and put him back on TV? No? Then I guess he should just shut the frick up.

Letterman is as retarded as he looks now. He's a bitter old woman with a long white beard.

Johnny Carson was the best. Quick witted and he made fun of both sides but was also extremely respectful to people that came on his show. He was the king of late night. Probably leaned Dim but you couldn’t tell. His opening monologues were legendary. Truly hilarious.
