Major warning signals of imminent conflict are once again flashing across the Persian Gulf as AIS spoofing spikes and Iranian airspace sees reductions in commercial traffic.

AIS spoofing activity is once again surging across the Persian Gulf, particularly northwest of Dubai.

These patterns have repeatedly appeared before kinetic escalations across the region.

Over the past year, major “ghost vessel” surges in Persian Gulf tracking data have coincided with or preceded ship attacks, projectile incidents, and military operations, including the lead-up to the U.S./Israel strikes on Iran in early 2026 and incidents near the UAE.

Now the same indicators are flashing again.

Iranian airspace also appears largely cleared of commercial traffic right now, another signal that has previously emerged before major regional military activity.

Individually, neither AIS spoofing nor cleared airspace guarantees military action.

But together, manipulated maritime tracking data and increasingly empty skies have become recurring warning signals before regional escalation.

AIS spoofing is not random technical interference. It plays a strategic role in modern conflict:

Masking vessel movements
Creating confusion in maritime traffic
Obscuring operational positioning
Complicating attribution and monitoring
Increasing uncertainty before kinetic activity

The Persian Gulf has entered an era where digital anomalies often precede physical conflict.

When the tracking layers start filling with ghosts and the skies begin clearing, regional observers pay attention.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump had a difficult conversation on Tuesday about ceasefire talks, Axios reported on Wednesday.

Trump reportedly called Netanyahu on Tuesday to inform him that mediators were working on a "letter of intent" to end the war and launch a month-long period of negotiations, which would include matters such as Iran's nuclear program and opening the Strait of Hormuz.

Two Israeli sources stated that the two leaders were in clear disagreement about how to deal with Iran moving forward. One US source briefed on the call told Axios that "Bibi's hair was on fire after the call."

Some still don't understand how Trump operates. He hasn't sent all those military assets to the Middle East just for show. The sledgehammer may drop at any moment.

That was always a pipe dream. The Kurds in Iraq finally got breathing room and don’t want any smoke. Trump recently formalized recognition of Syria’s new leader who’s made it clear the Kurds won’t be recognized by his government. If the US planned to use Kurds as a key part of the Iranian regime change it would destabilize the political order in the region. Not to mention the last time the Kurds assisted the US it ended with the need for a UN no fly zone to keep Saddam from gassing them again.
