Interesting- thought it seemed odd that UAE would be making nice with Iran:

UAE Presidential Advisor Anwar Gargash seems to direct veiled criticism at Saudi Arabia and Qatar, without naming them, over their ongoing contacts with Iran, raising the possibility that Abu Dhabi was dragged into asking Trump to refrain from resuming military operations against Iran. "The confusion of roles during this treacherous Iranian aggression is baffling, encompassing the Gulf Arab region's surrounding states. The victim's role has merged with that of the mediator, and vice versa, while the friend has turned into a mediator instead of being a steadfast ally and supporter," Gargash said. "In this most perilous phase in modern Gulf history, amid this perfidious aggression, the gray position remains more dangerous than outright inaction." The cracks within the GCC appear to be widening.

There can be two things true at the same time -

Their air force and navy pose no threat at all and are not able to defend their territory or interests.

and

They can still lob drones and missles at neighbors and hurt them.

FIFY

I don't know, but apparently the Gulf Arabs are afraid of Iran's ability to harm them. Can you explain it?

To defend against what? Iran has no Navy, no Air Force and no command and control structure.

Or so we have been led to believe.

I suspect they are afraid of Iran in the longer term particularly should the Islamic Republic retain any power.

Being that their missile forces fall under the IRGC aerospace force they are still there in Iran lobbing missiles. Same for their navy with their coastal defense missiles and drones.

If that is the case, why would they be opposed to us resuming the attack with regime change as a goal?

And this is also why many prior administrations took a different approach (admittedly with little success). DJT seemed to believe it was as simple as gunboat diplomacy and a quick deal. Iran's demands of reparations, control of strait, etc etc. clearly indicate no exit ramp in view. Even worse, what's left of leadership seem to be the 'end of days / Mahdi returns' crowd. This likely becomes his defining legacy.

Might be because they are losing faith in us to be able to make any actual lasting change in Iran.

Translated from Arabic The Ministry of Defense announces that during the past 48 hours, the UAE air defense systems have successfully detected and engaged 6 hostile drones that attempted to target civilian and vital areas in the country. The air defense forces succeeded in intercepting and neutralizing the hostile targets with the highest levels of readiness and efficiency, without recording any human casualties or impact on the safety of vital facilities. In the context of completing the investigations related to the brazen attack on the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant on May 17, 2026, the results of technical tracking and monitoring confirmed that the three drones, two of which were successfully engaged, while the third struck an electrical generator outside the internal perimeter of the plant on that date, in addition to the drones intercepted later, were all originating from Iraqi territory. The Ministry of Defense affirms that the United Arab Emirates reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and national security, in accordance with international laws and covenants. The Ministry of Defense emphasizes the full readiness of the armed forces to deal with any threats targeting the security of the state and its national capabilities.

The reference to "ships" is interesting - implies using cruise missiles and JASSMs from carrier aircraft. Those don't require the consent of Arab states.

Thank you.

Their AF and navy are ineffective - and as the other poster said, can't even defend their own country. However, drones are different and since they are quite smaller and more numerous, and capable of being stored in a building large enough to house them, maybe we should destroy every single building.

I question the truthfulness of this.

Don't cave on the dust. It's not just psychological - having it physically out of Iran is the only thing we can trust in dealing with these people. It's also Israel's repeatedly-stated red line.

I mean they have made attacks of their own. Maybe we should've finished the job that we started instead of continuing to extend deadlines and cave in to pressure.
