Following today’s brief exchange of fire between US and Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf, several fires have now appeared on NASA’s FIRMS system. The fires, likely originating from vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, began a few hours ago and have continued to burn since. This comes after confirmation that the US sank several Iranian small attack boats during the engagement.

Beyond the "name change" it would probably be a good idea since it would eliminate that as a launch site and provide a land base to defend the Straight.
Given Iran's attempts to block it, the islands could be made into an international zone until the Islamic Republic has been replaced. Now that's a bargaining chip and a serious loss of face to the lunatics of the Islamic Republic.

Makes me wonder if all the dismissive talk aside, the War Powers Act and 60 day clock is more of an impediment than they want to admit
I think that is definitely the case. Their words and actions 100% point to this.
Just say congressional Democrats are the impediment.
That's the reality of it.
We would be bombing the crap out of the IRGC right now but for them.

I don’t think it is a lock that the GOP has the votes for such legislation.

I am not really digging how this Iran thing is playing out right now. I just feel Trump’s desire to make a deal is clouding judgement some. I struggle with Iran firing on our ships and on what we are calling allies, and we are lobbing “love taps”?
It’s not feeing kosher right now. Hope I am reading it wrong. I’m only slightly concerned.
On a good note, we are seeing quite a lot of work being released for bid. We have 22 projects to bid next Wednesday alone. I feel like the second half of this year is ready to roar.

Translated from Persian
Our sources in Tehran report that, with very high probability, Israel carried out a series of drone operations inside Tehran last night.
The density of these operations—and especially the nature and locations of the targets—strongly suggest that heavier aerial offensives may be on the way; operations that this time will target, above all else, the regime’s human resources and operational structures.

According to IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) News, the Iranian Navy had conducted a special operation to seize an "offending tanker" named "OCEAN KOI" for attempting to export Iranian oil.
Her new name is actually JIN LI (9255933), and has been so since 2025-11-30. Examining our data, we can see that she's transported various Iranian hydrocarbons on at least 16 occasions since 2021; and with full knowledge of Iran because half of her loadings were conducted directly at port in Iran while the other half were conducted via Ship-to-Ship transfer further out.
JIN LI's ownership is based in Shanghai, China. The vessel was slapped with sanctions by US OFAC on 2026-02-25.

The Iran action has been a big mismeasure by our govt. I think we greatly underestimated how resilient the theocracy is when the US is successfully playing the role of the devil in their propaganda.
This makes me wary at the thought of any future regime in Iran being US friendly.
Additionally, I think the best way to topple the theocracy is to go away. However, there assertions over ticketing trade through the Strait is an untenable status quo to accept. It cannot be allowed, so my idea of walking away and letting internal divisions finish the job is no longer a real option in the US’s grand strategy.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Friday that Washington expected to receive Iran’s response to a US proposal later in the day.
“We should get Iran response today,” Rubio told reporters during a visit to Italy.
Rubio said the United States had not yet received Tehran’s reply, adding: “I hope it’s a serious offer” and “hope that it puts us in a process of serious negotiation.”
