TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. forces operating in the Gulf of Oman enforced blockade measures by disabling an Iranian-flagged unladen oil tanker attempting to sail toward an Iranian port at 9 a.m. ET, May 6.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces observed M/T Hasna as it transited international waters enroute to an Iranian port on the Gulf of Oman. American forces issued multiple warnings and informed the Iranian-flagged vessel it was in violation of the U.S. blockade.

After Hasna’s crew failed to comply with repeated warnings, U.S. forces disabled the tanker’s rudder by firing several rounds from the 20mm cannon gun of a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet launched from USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). Hasna is no longer transiting to Iran.

The U.S. blockade against ships attempting to enter or depart Iranian ports remains in full effect. CENTCOM forces continue to act deliberately and professionally to ensure compliance.

C’mon a year ago the thought of simply accepting some stray missiles missiles would be sacrilege.

We’re quickly approaching “we don’t like their action, but it’s not like anyone died”.

Iran is running out of places to store its oil and could hit full capacity within 40 days, according to an Iranian Oil Ministry official.

As a result, Iran will begin shutting down oil wells - with some closures expected to be permanent.

What this means:

• Major revenue blow: Reduced production + exports will deepen Iran’s economic crisis under sanctions
• Global oil prices likely to rise: Less Iranian crude coming to market could tighten supply
• Infrastructure strain exposed: Shows how limited Iran’s export options and refining capacity really are
• Long-term damage: Many wells are expensive or impossible to restart, hurting future output

Forty days starting now, or starting 40 days ago?

Seems like there’s a pause option for anything with a timeline lately.

From the article it appears they are claiming 40 days from now. The statement came from Iran though, so take it with a grain of salt.

This is the central issue. Israel has made it clear dozens of times that getting all the enriched uranium out of Iran is their reddest of red lines. Netanyahu reiterated it today and said Trump feels the same.

Have a hard time seeing the IRGC going along with this without a good bit more bombing to persuade them, but we shall see.

All we have to do is arm the citizens.

Hopefully we have been working on that since before the first bomb fell.

Kind of surprised that a machine gun on an F-18 fighter jet would be the go-to weapon for disable a ship, but I'm glad it worked.

Sounds like propaganda BS.

Trying to make it look like Iran has a lot more time than they actually do on oil storage capacity.

Who knows what the exact number days are but when you see old boats being shored up to take on crude, it has to be a lot less than that.

They may soon start dumping on the ground and the sea, who knows what these lunatics will do.

We just need to keep killing them, eventually someone in the IRGC will agree. We just have to keep killing them until we find that guy.

Cheaper than a missile and less chance of sinking the vessel inadvertently.

Does the aviator get a oil tanker sticker now on the side of his plane?

This could be done through several different means, but POTUS didn't specify.

That's exactly what the US military did before this started. They accepted the fact that those low value facilities would draw fire. Because they were low value, the military said we can accept that. Why waste expensive resources defending something we don't need to achieve our goal. It's called good planning.
