I totally forgot about the USS Boxer and did not realize it had not made it into the area yet:

The vessel, M/T Hasna, was heading toward an Iranian port and is no longer in transit. The U.S. blockade remains in full effect.

TRUMP: IRAN HAS ONE WEEK

President Trump says Iran now has a one-week deadline to reach a deal with the United States.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said he is “cautiously optimistic” and believes negotiations could lead to an agreement, as reports continue to emerge of intense behind-the-scenes talks involving Washington, Tehran, and regional mediators.

.@POTUS on Iran: "We'll see if we get there. They can't have nuclear weapons. It's very simple... We have to get what we have to get. If we don't do that, we'll have to go a big step further — but with that being said, they want to make a deal. We've had very good talks over the last 44 hours, and it's very possible that we'll make a deal."

So after a week is basically the end of Trump's visit to China. That is how long we will most likely have to wait until action resumes. Of course he did at one time take out Qasem Soleimani while visiting the Iraqi Prime minister, in the Middle East, so he might be make the call while still in China if Iran gets too rowdy.

Seems like extending deadlines instead of enforcing them has become the new norm.

I also don't put much stock into Iran supposedly agreeing to be prevented from making nuclear weapons. In 15 minutes someone from the IRGC will override whomever made that statement to us and announce to the world that no such deal will be made.

Yesterday in their parliament, you had hardliners declaring that they should make weak nuclear missiles with the little bit of material they have access to. Now they say they will agree to not make a nuclear weapon? I highly doubt that is the case.

That's how I feel at times as well. Imagine how the Iranian people feel wanting to be freed from the IRGC...

I'm already seeing people who can get online in Iran, starting to bitch about the situation and are praying that Israel finishes the job now. Whatever games we are playing is starting to dampen the hopes of the non regime citizens in Iran. A lot of them are now losing faith in the USA taking out the regime and I can't blame them at this point.

Any deal that leaves the IRGC and the Islamic Republic of Iran intact is a not a good situation.

Nuclear expert David Albright warned that any Iran deal must remove “all 10 tons of enriched uranium out of Iran,” not just the highly enriched stockpile.

“If any significant part of [Iran’s enriched uranium] stockpile remains, then that’s a bad deal. There’s no doubt about it,” he said, warning Iran could still develop a nuclear weapon.

Albright added that Israeli and US strikes have “significantly” degraded Iran’s nuclear capabilities, but “you can’t eliminate it a hundred percent.”
