Here we go again. Iran wants to talk but says they don't. But then they do, wait, they changed their mind. Rinse and repeat. Everyone is screaming don't trust them or believe them, but we will end up entertaining their ruse yet again.

Iran denies asking for renewed negotiations with the United States after President Trump said Tehran requested continued talks following recent hostilities.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry says it only accepted a visit from a Qatari mediator, not direct negotiations with Washington.
Trump says the U.S. agreed to further talks but emphasized the June ceasefire with Iran is over.

Interesting comment on MSNBC/now tonight. Iran claims shooting the 3 ships early this week was done by a rouge military group they had no control over. And Iran would like to get back to discussing the peace.

I hope no one in the admin is silly enough to believe that. The IRGC is running Iran right now. Vahidi is the one really calling the shots and no one is going to fire on ships unless he says so. They are also not going to fire upon gulf states without his order.

The Trump administration believes the chances of reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran are diminishing, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing senior US officials.
US officials said that if Iran cannot abide by the interim agreement which provided Tehran with financial benefits in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, there is little hope of reaching a far more complex nuclear deal, the report added.

I don’t understand Mearsheimer’s insistence that article 5 of the MOU gave control of the Strait to Iran. I read it as just the opposite.
