Which is why libertarians need to realize that people like this can never be allowed to have long range offensive missiles or nukes.
To expand on that just a little… we’re dealing with religious zealots. That adds an entirely different element to the equation. They’re convinced that martyrdom is a win. Death is to be embraced. That makes them especially dangerous.

Let the Marines drop them like they did the animals in Pakistan.

The proxies have to be dealt with. There’s no avoiding it and it can’t be won exclusively from the air.
My biggest fear is that we end up with an insurgency in Iran after a transition to a new leader.

While this is true, if things go as we hope, Iran should start selling oil on the open market. That means they will not sell directly to China at a 10-15% discount, as they were doing due to sanctions. And, if things go right and the right people come to power, they should be agnostic or hostile to China due to China economically supporting the repressive former regime. As much as I want this to be about America being that shining city on a hill and doing the right thing, I think this is as much about Dollar dominance and hemming in China as it is Iran itself.
ETA: for the U.S. 100% different motive for Israel, though they also benefit from U.S. motives.

The reason you see insurgencies in all these other countries is because Iran has been funding them. If the regime falls, who is going to be funding all of these insurgents? No one. Shiites dont have any sugar daddies to finance it outside of Iran

IDF: AERIAL SUPERIORITY ACHIEVED OVER TEHRAN: The IAF have been operating over the skies over Tehran, striking and eliminating numerous targets. Targets struck include ballistic missile launchers, headquarters, Iranian air defense systems & command centers of the Iranian terrorist regime. In parallel, 50+ UAVs from Iran toward Israel since the beginning of the operation have been successfully intercepted by IAF fighter jets and attack helicopters.

Agreed. Unfortunately I can see Iran having a rough go of it due to an insurgency. I forget where I saw it (probably CBS) but they were talking about the support that the regime had and it was roughly 10% but that still comes out to roughly 9 million people to recruit from. That’s a huge problem moving forward.
With the proxies in other nations knowing that their financial and material support is lessening they’re going to do what they can to inflict maximum damage. I don’t think I would have such a doom and gloom view if this wasn’t driven by religious fervor. I just don’t see how you can go from dedicated warrior of allah, desirous of killing everyone that isn’t you, to being talked out of it because that isn’t a nice thing to go about doing. Death is to be embraced. Martyrdom is winning for these types.

No dude. For example Iran never funded ISIS. Iran has always been in direct opposition to ISIS.

Muslims regions are always going to have to deal with those types, it comes with the territory. Muslim countries like Nigeria, Pakistan, Indonesia etc have managed to reasonably function as a state despite having large pools of terrorists, no reason Iran cant

ISIS is Sunni, not Shia. Hezbollah, Houthis etc are Shia. Iran is the only sponsor of Shia terrorist groups globally, they are the minority sect of Islam
