Said just now from Fox News’ Lucas Tomlinson at the WH reading official release.

Biden: “On Wednesday I ordered the Pentagon to take it down as soon as possible without injuring people on the ground.”

Like they couldn't have picked a barren spot over Montana.

This doesn't help them look more competent.

Translation: as soon as possible after it had transmitted its data.

Now they’re saying:

The missile obliterated the package itself; it did not target the balloon envelope or solar panels.

It would have been nice to get the package and examine it. If data is encrypted, see if it can be hacked or decoded, modes of transmission, etc.

Oh well.

We made it go ka bloo ee

Gotta destroy the evidence. Just putting holes in it for a slow descent would leave too much intact.

A.)So either they told you to go sit in the corner you old fool, we don’t take orders from you.

B.)You’re a pathological, pant’s shitting liar.

C.) It floated directly over the interior of the largest and most sparsely populated landmass we claim as our own. And both you, the pentagon, and the joint chiefs are liars and enemies of the Republic.

D.) All of the above

That’s a bullshite excuse.
They should’ve shot it down over Alaska.
The Montana governor said they were ready to take it down, but they couldn’t because it was a federal thing is national guard ready.

Governor of MT should have ordered it taken down, if his ANG has F-15s or Raptors.

This whole thing just doesn't make sense. I mean is China lead by leaders as stupid as ours? Or are they just feeling so bold that they would float a slow-moving target over the heartland of the US, just for grins? There was no real intelligence opportunities here, that would be worth doing something so obviously reckless.

Did they do it so pedo Joe could shoot it down and look like a strong, independent leader, just before the State of the Union address?

This doesn't pass the smell test.

What did China really stand to gain here?

Lots of ELINT probably.

They likely wanted to see how the US would coordinate it being taken down and wanted to get some tasty ground radar returns especially from any phased array systems on ground. Note they used AIM-9X and not AIM-120

I suppose it’s possible they could have done it just to make us look stupid or see what we would do.

But I think the balloon device was probably gathering electronic and communications intelligence or something we aren’t fully aware of yet.

Seems like they could have just shot some holes in the balloon until it started going down slowly. Who knows what the frick all this is about though.

Or shot it down before it got in US airspace.

Wonder where it launched from?

They wasted a Sidewinder missile on that?!?

Couldn't they have used an old P-51 and just strafed it for 1/1000 of the cost?

They own our government.

We know it.

They know we know it. And they’re rubbing our noses in it.
