If the above quote in the op is accurate, he might have really fricked himself. He admits he didn’t know if she was armed and he admits he didn’t know he’d shot a woman until hours later. Those two statements alone destroy any legal justification he had to open fire.

Might not have a choice now. Never a bright idea to admit on camera that you never saw an immediate threat / weapon and you didn’t even know who you shot. Essentially he just admitted he had zero legal justification to discharge his weapon. We’d get thrown under the jail if you or i tried to claim self defense and made those two statements to justify our actions.
