I would wager this kid lived in an internet bubble the last few years and had very few real life friends/experiences since moving out of his seemingly normal parents’ house. That’s what brainwashed a kid and makes him do stupid stuff for internet cred. Within 24 hours he had logged on to see his internet friends’ reactions. It’s a warped sense of reality.

"but" is the English way of denoting bullshite to follow this word.

I imagine that being confused about being gay/gender ideology caused a rift with his conservative family. That alone can be confusing for a young kid. I'm trying to understand what happened, not excuse the horrific act.
In this scenario though the shooter might choose to see everyone else as evil rather than to make sense of their own mental state. Add a half dozen other freaks on line and tons of screen time....nutters.
I can actually understand this happening more than I understand the thousands (or millions) of so called "normal" citizens of this country celebrating his death, trying to back-fill the narrative that CK was a radical hater, or anything to avoid saying murder is bad. THIS is what I struggle most with. I have members of my family that are calling him a hate filled bigot who had it coming. We live in two different realities.

I suspect he was neither right nor left. There are a large number of young men who were radicalized while stuck in their homes during covid. They have completely checked out of society all together. They don't subscribe to being on the right or the left. They just want to burn the whole thing down, cause chaos and sit back and laugh at the left and right fighting amongst themselves. It's sickening honestly. Completely nihilistic and anarchist. And what the left and right are doing is exactly what he wanted.

What makes a normal seeming kid turn? Obviously, life in prison at minimum. But, I honestly am more disgusted with the ppl pushing Nazi accusations etc. I suspect that barrage turned a normal kid crazy. He's gotta pay for what he did. But, the Media etc are just as culpable. Maybe not criminally...but they caused this shite.
Influenced and/or brainwashed? No doubt.
It’s fascinating to me to see how the wisdom of the Bible continues to describe our human condition, age after age.
To say that the shooter was influenced or brainwashed (yes he was, obviously) doesn’t diminish his participation and choices, mental and physical, to kill someone.
Look back at the simple description of the Cain and Abel story. (Yes, I’m drawing on the exegesis of Jordan Peterson for those familiar with his Genesis lectures.)
Cain is angry that the world doesn’t work the way he wants it to and that his rewards are not equal to his brother’s. He gets resentful. Resentment is a huge factor in human interactions.
quote:
6 The Lord therefore said to Cain, “Why are you angry and why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be able to hold up your head? But if you do what is wrong, sin is crouching at your door. It seeks to dominate you, but you can overcome it.”
Cain gave in to sin. He chose murder. So did Charlie Kirk’s killer.

I’m serious when I say this – every fricking Democrat in this country is brainwashed. By the time they reach college, most are completely fricking brain dead.
They were never taught how to think they were strictly taught what to think and what to regurgitate.
