re: Obama's alleged Executive Order "dictatorship"

Not like this. Obama's most recent extension carries an "oath" that those businesses that take the extension have not made employment changes because of Obamacare. They must have that in writing for the IRS with threat of it being a felony. When did he get the power to create such a law?

he's not creating a law, he's being selective about how he will enforce current law.
i don't like that he's doing that either, but it's definitely within Presidential power to do it and he's also not the first President guilty of acting like an a-hole with his powers.

Which ones specifically have concerned you?
The "Dream Act" and his directive to gut the work requirements for welfare.
BTW, I'm not disagreeing that other presidents have used and abused EOs. I'm just criticizing the author of the story you linked, because he left out such an important aspect of EOs.

And what we've been seeing is the shift of gravity within that system in a very dangerous way that makes it unstable, and I think that's what the president is doing. I think that we've become a nation of enablers.
I think many people will come to loathe that they remained silent during this period
I'm afraid this is beginning to border on a cult of personality for people on the left

FIFY the rest of the phrase is meaningless drivel.

You really think this is the first time a POTUS has acted in such a way? I mean come on.

it's not because the narrative is that Obama is unique in this regard, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Take it up with Jonathan Turley. He's the "right wing lemming motivated by hatred of Obama" that is making the claim. Not that you would take the time to get off your erroneous Narrative and actually watch the link I provided or go to JonathanTurley.org and read the mountain of evidence he produces there. Much better to troll here.

People sure hated Bush for his executive orders. Including Obama
quote:
“I take the Constitution very seriously, the biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not go through Congress at all. And that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m president of the United States of America.”

Holy shite, shut the frick up about Jonathan Turley. I really don't care about what he has to say all. This thread is about the right wing media's made up narrative.

Wrong again. The narrative is that his EO are unconstitutional.

And like I said in the OP, if you want to talk about EO's in general then that's fine, but there is nothing uniquely unconstitutional about Obama's EO's vs any other President's.

This may or may not be true. It still doesn't purge my disdain for the current POTUS. If that rationalization works for you then great.

That "Obama-hating Right-Winger" Jonathan Turley has been talking about you again with his " right-wing made-up media narrative":
quote:
As I have said before, there is a clear cult of personality surrounding this President that has insulated him from opposition by many Democratic and liberal voters. Worse yet, this silence has led to a massive increase in presidential powers that will continue beyond this President. He will leave a different system and a different country in the wake of his tenure.
quote:
Even those who express disappointment have not let these policies alter their continued support for the Administration. Many simply buy the White House argument that the other guys are worse.
Look how well the shoe fits. Turley should send you a check.

quote:Tell me about it. Fior the life of me I can't figure out why this guy is so popular with the left. He has deported more Mexicans than Dubya ever thought about deporting. And he has killed more Muslims that Dubya and his daddy combined. He kills indiscrimanately with drones, yet the left fawns all over him. Go figure.
That's fair I suppose. As a liberal he has sold out liberalism and what he has promised to do so many times that I learned long ago not to take anything he says he will do seriously at all. So when he said that I just kind of shrugged and assumed it was more of the same rhetoric without action.

I think it's because the Left had so much emotionally invested in this guy to begin w/. Nobody likes to admit they're wrong, so they look everywhere else to throw blame.

i think that's somewhat true. I know I definitely bought in during the 2008 election. I cut him some slack for a long time but ultimately you've got to face facts that the guy just isn't what he said he was. Once it became clear that Obamacare was just a cash grab by big insurance I had no choice but to turn on him.
