African-American isn't black. It is an African and an American. African-American becoming a synonym with black has to do with language hygiene because black sounds "racist." Most people we call African-American have never stepped foot in Africa.

I might be wrong, but this is not a needle mover. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad they're digging, but this isn't going to be the smoking gun.

It's pretty telling that the guy is left of Marx and the NYT's gripe with him is that he isn't great at filling out college applications.
