Socialist mayor during campaign:
"We are going to make this, this, this, this, and this free and low cost if you elect me!!"
Socialist mayor less than a month into term:
"This city spends too much money!!!"

The NYC bureaucracy is a labyrinth of inefficiency and feather bedding.
I'm sure they never considered cutting BS, non-productive gold bricks.

Wasteful and stupid but when ur 12 billion behind 600k is a drop in the bucket. They won't actually fix the real problems

FedGov will bail them out next time a Democrat is elected President.

If the Texas Stock Exchange gets going in 2026, along with NYSE Texas that opened up in 2025, it’s gonna start the exodus.
Goldman Sachs, Morgan Chase, Citigroup,Verison, etc., will start moving and then the race will be on to get out of dodge.
Mamdani will tax them out pretty quick.

I'm gonna give the guy partial credit here, and full credit if he follows through.
If the city has been grossly mismanaged and he posts the receipts, that's transparent government, something we don't have these days.
If he's just making accusations and then doesn't post receipts, then New York is getting exactly what it voted for.

the city’s nearly $116 billion budget for fiscal 2026
Does that strike anyone else as ridiculously high? Los Angeles’ budget is something like 14-15 billion.

Add a bunch of welfare to the new 26/27 budget and claim a deficit to justify raising taxes...

Its funny he is talking about a $12 billion deficit, and the best government efficiency example he can give is $600k. Good luck NYC!

Good, make billionaires show that they will leave. It’s always been an empty threat by the rich.

Yet, cutting government has never been considered by him or his ilk. Let it burn!

quote:Not everyone who voted for him is poor and wanting free stuff. He is coming after the middle class and the remaining wealthy to fix the gigantic budget hole he has. It's only going to get larger, and these socialists/communists believe they can tax their way out of it. Never works and those foolish enough to vote for him, not getting free stuff, will figure out how bad he is for New York all too late. Now add in all of the social programs sure to follow and liberal crime policies and let's see who suffers from increased crime. Most of the victims will be those who voted for the free stuff. Sad to see it happen, not the first time and won't be the last time.
the people that voted him in to office will continue to get free stuff.

There’s 6.5 million people over the age of 18 in New York City. If you restrict that to the top 10% of earners that 650,000 people. By 12,000,000,000 x 650,000 $ and you have an additional $20,000 on average per taxpayer in the top 10% of earners.
Hope they get it passed.
