I’m sure this is partially politically motivated.
We will know more this afternoon and I think almost everyone is in agreement that Comey was bad at his job.
Comey was bad for both parties. Being politically motivated does not mean what the NY ag has nothing on the Trump foundation.
Anything that involves Comey is sketchy.

Text of the suit is out.
NY v. Trumps
P.S. Not a good legal day for DJT. His appeal in the Summer Zervos suit was denied.

The line you quoted says that he was essentially distributing back to himself. So instead of someone donating to the foundation, and the foundation distributing it to St. Jude's, Make-A-Wish, and the Wounded Warriors Project, it's saying the foundation was distributing it back to another Trump entity, including the business itself, which is probably the most problematic part.
It said to "non-profits".
Since when was the Trump Organization a non-profit?
It wasn't and never was. So you're talking out your arse.

I misread it donating to his bussiness and non-profits. That's my fault. It makes sense reading the lawsuit though.
Although this is kind of what is essentially alleged here, since it's saying he used the foundation for his businesses lawsuit settlement:

Mr. Trump personally directed his accounting staff to draw the $100,000 payment from the assets of the Foundation, not his personal accounts or the accounts of Mar-A-Lago in the following handwritten note he sent:

The Trump Organization accounting staff followed Mr. Trump’s instruction to use the Foundation’s account to satisfy the settlement obligation, even though the Foundation was not involved in the lawsuit in any way.

I don't know about the FEC, but the referals to the service weren't criminal. Do you have info to the contrary regarding the FEC?

glad we drained the swamp by hiring a president who has a ray donavan, has been sued for fraud, and was committing felonies through his non profit. Keep blindly circle jerking to one corrupt mother fricker, magas.
Oh....my....god. You criticize Maag, yet you can't tell the difference between a civil suit and a criminal case? I'll ask you too....he third person in this thread. Can we apply the standard of allegations in a petition as being fact across the board? Yes or no.

Just read the details. As someone who has served on the boards of several nonprofits, this suit absolutely has merit.
as someone who has litigated Several cases regarding self dealing within a private foundation...let me tell you...you are full of shite and have zero clue if the suit has merit. Are we accepting allegations in a petition as facts now? Can I apply hat across the board.

By the same people that cleared Clinton Foundation?

yet you can't tell the difference between a civil suit and a criminal case?
Anyways the two biggest takeaways from that were:
1. Lewandowski and the campaign staff were directing the donations given to the foundation at a campaign rally. The lawsuit alleges that it was a problem because the foundation and at least the board should have been in charge of it since the foundation didn't have any real staff.
It's just a strange use of campaign resources to have them do it anyways, regardless of the legality. Maybe he really didn't think he was going to win.
2. The foundation was used to pay settlements of the business organization, including $100,000 settlement with Trump's approval explicitly stating to use the foundation to pay it off.
Now the settlements seem really shady to me. I know you're a lawyer, so what is your opinion, both in the legalitg and or just in general in regards to whether it's shady or not?

Snowflakes are chippy today. Maybe they are finally realizing that Hillary lost the election and fake news isn't going to change it and that they are getting 8 years of MAGA, like it or not!
Scream at the sky, I hear it will make you feel better.

The referral to the IRS isn't criminal. Don't know about FEC.
1. A trustee of a private foundation may delegate. I'd be interested to know exactly what actions were being taken and if it rose above allowable delegation.
2. Is Fisher House a non profit? I don't know the details of the suit. What was the wording of the settlement? It may be shady it may not. If fisher house isn't a non profit it would be a disallowed distribution and there would be an excise tax.

apparently Trump is tweeting on this....he mad
The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!...
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 14, 2018
....Schneiderman, who ran the Clinton campaign in New York, never had the guts to bring this ridiculous case, which lingered in their office for almost 2 years. Now he resigned his office in disgrace, and his disciples brought it when we would not settle.
