He parked in front of the hydrant because he continually fears for his life due to 400 years of unabated, unresolved intersectional oppression by all white people on the face of the Earth, ever.
Ergo, if his car caught on fire, he’d be as close as possible to a source of extinguishment.
(And don’t blame him for not being able to read the signs warning against blocking hydrants, whitey purposely made it hard to learn westernized educational systems, like literacy).
So, when the popo came to kill him in cold blood (as they do all black people at all times, everywhere) and before he could loot a pair of trousers that wouldn’t fall off -as reparations, of course- he naturally had to proactively defend himself by throwing haymakers at the klansmen disguised as law enforcement officers - one in blackface...
