Chris Kise, attorney for Trump and other defendants, said in a statement, “Today’s outrageous decision is completely unhinged from the facts and governing law. The Court has ignored fully the Appellate Division mandate and basic legal, accounting and business principles. “

Kise argued that the decision “essentially substituted its own judgment for that of nationally recognized experts from the NYU Stern School of Business and beyond.”

“The decision seeks to nationalize one of the most successful corporate empires in the United States and seize control of private property all while acknowledging there is zero evidence of any default, breach, late payment or any complaint of harm,” he said. “More importantly, the Court disregarded the words of those actually involved in the loan transactions who testified there was nothing misleading and there was no fraud. While the full impact of the decision remains unclear, what is clear is that President Trump will seek all available appellate remedies to rectify this miscarriage of justice.”

I'm aware of that...apparently, when he applied for loans, he wrote down what he wanted...and the banks believed it. Banks are probably at fault as well.

You thinks banks just believe what you say without doing due diligence? Holy crap. Have you ever applied for a loan? If you have you would realize what a completely crazy post this is.

You have displayed a complete ignorance of the lending process.

It's important to know when to stop arguing with people and simply let them be wrong. Maybe he shouldn't have lied on his applications. I didn't.

Great advice and something you should heed. You are suggesting that trump lied on his applications and the banks just believed him. If you have ever applied for a home mortgage you would know that isn’t how it works. Much less a business loan. Or a business loan for a piece of property.

You have zero clue how it actually works and are here opining from a place of complete ignorance.

When you try to buy your first house you will realize how silly you sound.

I am curious, how old are you?

You seem to have a complete misunderstanding as to how everything works.

No. I don’t. You have clearly never applied for a loan. Banks don’t just trust you.

Jumping in here late. Is this clown saying the banks loaned Trump millions upon millions of dollars based on what Trump thought the value of the property is worth?

That's just shameful..

You're confusing a collateral based loan with an unsecured line of credit.

This was an unsecured personal loan, which does rely heavily on the client providing a good faith estimation of their net worth (the issue that's that is in question here, which apparently Trump was quite liberal with when representing to the bank).

While banks will do some level of due diligence, for a client like Trump they won't do full appraisals of his 75+ properties and all his holdings.

Your property is worth for tax purposes what the assessor says it’s worth. Assessed value =\= market value.

That Judge doesn’t know what he’s talking about! He’s stating Trump mis-valued Maralago. You can do simple math and look at the surrounding properties and know that judge is full of shite and being paid off to put something on Trump! fricking waste of our taxes dollars! Oh and James is a fraud too, she had it out for Trump before she was AG! Shes a fraud as well!

that was a pretty flagrant discrepancy according to the judge - >20x appraised value. I didn't expect to see Mar-a-Lago in this case (thought they'd all be New York properties, but if he was getting loans from New York banks, so I suppose the state doesn't matter?).

I'm not sure refusing to pay people you owe qualifies as "outsmarting" someone.
