….without discussing the largely anonymous Deep State players who have shaped the West’s relationship with other nations in Eastern Europe over the past few decades.

Victoria Nuland is the personification of a cold blooded swamp critter: a largely anonymous, unelected and unaccountable Deep State apparatchik who welds enormous power in determining the Foreign Policy Agenda of the United States.

This article from March 2015, written in the aftermath of the CIA sponsored Euromaidan Uprising, discuses the war profiteers behind the putsch.

Whatever your opinion of Russia or Putin, anyone who denies the outsized influence of the Kagan-Nuland clan in determining the foreign policy agenda of the United States in the region is 1.) either ignorant or 2.) a Deep State propagandist.

A Family Business of Perpetual War: Victoria Nuland and Robert Kagan have a great mom-and-pop business going. From the State Department, she generates wars and from op-ed pages he demands Congress buy more weapons. There’s a pay-off, too, as grateful military contractors kick in money to think tanks where other Kagans work

Neoconservative pundit Robert Kagan and his wife, Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, run a remarkable family business: she has sparked a hot war in Ukraine and helped launch Cold War II with Russia and he steps in to demand that Congress jack up military spending so America can meet these new security threats.

This extraordinary husband-and-wife duo makes quite a one-two punch for the Military-Industrial Complex, an inside-outside team that creates the need for more military spending, applies political pressure to ensure higher appropriations, and watches as thankful weapons manufacturers lavish grants on like-minded hawkish Washington think tanks….

Just watch the two Oliver Stone documentaries. Holy balls, she has rocketed to the top of my neocon hate list since I watched those this weekend.

It's almost like all of these powerful people have some sort of common belief system or ancestors came from the same place. I just can't put my finger on it.

I wonder if McFaul has honorary membership. Greenwald is going berserk over these guys lately.

Where do you think Nuland works now? The only thing different now than when Obama was president is he could read the teleprompter.

I really dig Greenwald's way with words.

"His stupidity is surpassed only by his bloodthirsty sociopathy."

but seriously, he's right.

OMG Nuland's husband is Robert Kagan who started the Project for a New American Century?? The PNAC that created the document pre 9/11 saying that the only way the American people would support a lengthy war on terror was if there was "new Pearl Harbor" type event.....what an evil family!!

PNAC is a who's who of warhawks, warmongers and war criminals.

The ones who genuinely ask this are invariably the same ones who see no connection between the Bush Regime’s invasion of Iraq and the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and likewise believe that the term “neoconservative” is just an epithet for someone whose politics you dislike.

FWIW, Nuland was once an acolyte of Dick Cheney.

Your OP is right on target….it’s not the Deep State…..it’s the Bureaucratic State that’s an existential threat to our constitutional republic.

The old man was a pacifist compared to what followed.
