The synopsis by afternoon news crew with correspondent Mara Liasson...

He did some good things:

Worked with Democrats to raise taxes;
Supported Clean Air and Clean Water;
Appointed Colin Powel as JCOS Chairman;

But he was often on the wrong side:

Went to war in Kuwait;
Ran a racist campaign (Willie Horton);
Opposed new civil rights act;
Neglected AIDS patients;
Covered up Iran Contra;
Wasn’t a champion for women and minorities;

He was justifiably hit on all these bad things by the media and the democrats. But...and this is his greatest legacy...he took it like a gentleman. He never fought back against it. He didn’t believe in winning at all costs. That is something that is sorely lacking in today’s republicans and in Trump.

The Republican Party needs to return to being the party of Bush.

The current GOPe is the party of GWH Bush - New World Order, 1000 points of light.

The current GOPe is very open about not fighting back, but rather rolling over and allowing the Socialist to have their way.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your post, but if I am understanding it and you're suggesting we return to the days when the GOP acted like GWHB then you and I are so far apart, I don't believe common ground is possible.

Of course I don’t believe that crap.

You can always spot the full of shite NPCuck when a variation of this line is said:

They did it with McStain, they are doing it now with HW, they will do it with every dead GOPe until Orange Man is in the ground himself.

Imagine not knowing who he was and watching a 20 minute highlight reel of Michael Jordan and every highlight has him missing his shot.

That's how the media covers Republicans.

Well, this is true. He could have said 'Mecca Lecca Hi, Mecca Hiney Ho' and they would have been cured.

If all you knew was what you heard from listening to the media, you would have no idea that 63M people voted for Trump.

You would think he was a dictator installed by Russia and had absolutely no support for his leadership or his policies.

I’d like to think that a free thinker would at least be confused.

Then somebody needs to pass on this tidbit to the Democrats. They have no problem destroying a man's (or woman's) life in order to win. Just ask Brett Kavanaugh or Mitt Romney. Kavanaugh fought back and won. Romney did not and lost.

How in the everloving frick is raising taxes ever a good thing??

Plus, that essentially is what cost him a second term in office.

A lot of people either have short memories or weren’t present for the 1992 election but I clearly remember it.

The media and celebrities hit GHWB relentlessly every week for not visiting an AIDS patient.

Magic Johnson resigned from a WH AIDS committee and publicly said that GHWB didn’t care about AIDS patients.

A man with AIDS (common everyday guy...think Joe the Plumber) spoke at the Democrat Convention and said: “If you re-elect Bush I will die. And many others like me will die too. Our lives depend on this election.”

The media (CNN and others, there was no Fox) were openly emotional and called it beautiful, heart breakingly poignant. GHWB was a cold, evil man. And he never responded to it. He felt it was beneath him. Bush was bringing clean white starched gloves to lightly slap Clinton with while Clinton was stabbing and slashing Bush all over with a switchblade knife.

NPR is thanking him for that now, calling it his greatest legacy and asking republicans to be more like him.

Raising taxes is always awesome to a democrat (and their propaganda dept, the media). It’s who they are, what they believe.
