I think America is going to overwhelmingly side with ACB, and this should also be a plus for the election.
You misunderstand the power of selective coverage by the MSM. By the end of the week, social media and Americans who watch the news will be lockstep in stating that ACB will take away healthcare from Americans and she is evil

All she had to say is I don’t plan on voting health care out unless there is a better one in place for All. With preexisiting conditions included.

With all due respect, I don't misunderstand anything. These Supreme Court nomination hearings are one of the few things that the typical American will tune in to watch. My Dad doesn't follow politics that closely, but he watched the Kavanaugh hearings and was thoroughly disgusted by what he saw the Democrats do.
Millions of people will be watching the Dems interrogate Amy Coney Barrett, and I can tell you right now that any attacks on this good, smart, attractive woman with a great family of 7 children will not be received well by the American people.
And once they see what they see, no amount of spin from the corrupt, bought-and-paid-for corporate media will change their minds.

Seems like a free political ad for the Dems. I think it’s best to keep them away from the cameras as long as the media is willing to lie this much for them.
Maybe the questioning will be different, but don’t be surprised if the Dems use it to just make political statement.
They know she is going to be confirmed so they will use the time as free ads.

Me thinks you do not understand the role of a judge.

Even if the argument that it’s against the law is very strong and violates the constitution?
Come on man

Love the #imwithher campaign the pubs put together. Clever and subtle jab at HRC while promoting ACB.

Just watched her opening statement.
If the Dems have a fricking brain their their heads, they will ask her a few light policy questions and yield back their time. Any hard attacks on her will absolutely piss off women.

All of these goings on and Pelosi, Schiff, Nadler and The Squad have no say-so whatsoever ... it has to be killing them.

Just getting to the party.
Harris' statements:
They can't help but double down on COVID, can they? It's all they have.
Kennedy's statements:
Enjoyed them. He's got that strong accent, but he had solid content.
ACB's statement: Nailed it.
ETA: She'd be the only justice who didn't attend Harvard or Yale. Another reason we need her.

I finally got a chance to go back and watch some of the Dem's opening statements. After doing that, it's clear to me that those idiots FINALLY figured out that attacking this woman's Catholic/Christian faith is a loser for them.
But what they are going to TRY to do is fearmonger and paint Amy Coney Barrett as the woman who will take down Obamacare and take away your healthcare. We'll see how far they get with that, but I will concede that it's a somewhat better strategy than attacking ACB for being a devout Christian.
Get ready to hear the term "Affordable Care Act" about 700 times over the next 2 days.

Affordable Care Act is no longer, it was gone when the individual mandate was killed. It is a shell of what it once was...

this is about the best candidate for the Supreme Court in the past 25 years. She is rock solid.
The only thing that the dems can hang their hat on is the affordable care act case coming before the court nov 10.
They assume that ACB is prejudiced on the issue and will rule against it. I think she is going to look at it through fair eyes and if there is anything unjust then she will rule against it and vice versa.

As the legal pundits have noted, this ACA case is all based on severability, a legal doctrine that doesn't carry nearly the polarization as others.
I think they are likely right that at worst this will go 5-4 in upholding severability of the individual mandate and the ACA stays law.
Obviously, there is merit in the argument otherwise.
I don't think most insurers are going to change much of anything even if it was struck down. They may provide some other types of plans they can't now, but no insurer, for example, is going to just drop pre-existing conditions now, even if not mandated.

She would likely have no impact on the current case anyway....the only way her vote would matter is if it is currently 4-4. Well 4-4 means the law is done as the lower court ruling stands.

Okay, but the Democrats still refer to it as the Affordable Care Act, and they are going to make it the centerpiece of their argument for rejecting Amy Coney Barrett.
Just watch and see.

Ya the pundits think it's at worst 5-3 for severability right now. She would at worst be the 4th vote and therefore largely immaterial. To this case at least.

The ACA, as the person you responded to stated, is not a "shell" of its former self.
There's a ton of other stuff it requires. Though I agree it offended my senses that you can force people into commerce and circumvent a lot of constitutional construction by calling something a "tax."
However, the mandate being reduced to $0 penalty didn't get rid of that constitutional precedent, and who knows what "tax" is coming next.
