Not just you, I've seen this in other industries and I'm certain we're not alone.
And I hear you about retiring... hope the two years pass quickly and you enjoy every bit.

I see it offshore in the oil field all the time. They hire the person with the fewest options at another career as the OIM, offshore installation manager, and he’s just a glorified yes man for some DEI laptop jockey ops manager. They manipulate every number possible and never take on complicated, valuable work, because failing reveals their lack of capacity. I’m sure, as a previous poster mentioned, this is everywhere.

The Boomers have almost all cycled out of the work force. The youngest of the Boomers have been eligible for early retirement for a year now. Hell they're 40% extinct today.

witnessed it firsthand when my wife was hospitalized with double pneumonia a few weeks ago - brand new facility, state of the art equipment, a small handful of competent but highly overworked staff and a bunch more who didn’t know what the hell they were doing
her old school infectious disease doc told her “you’re not well yet but I’m discharging you, because the longer you stay here the sicker you’ll get”

This describes all of the Commie candidates across the country. All they do is throw out a bunch of crap that the useful idiots eat up like gospel. Tax the rich, defund the police, open borders, free trans surgery, etc. That doesn't solve anything. It results in chaos and just makes things much worse and they know they will never be held accountable. It's what they really want because it will destroy America as we know it.
