Republicans in 2012:

"We need figther who is going to tackle immigration"

"We need a guy who can win the battleground states and break down the blue wall in the rust belt"

"We need a guy who won't take any shite from the media, and who hits back when dems attack"

Republicans in the age of Trump:

"Why is pos Trump willing to negotiate on daca?!?!"

"Why is pos Trump proposing tariffs to prop up American foundries in the rust belt?!?!"

"Why is pos Trump wasting time bashing cnn on Twitter?!?!"

That is because traditional republicans still believe the line of shite that the Bushs and the Chamber of Commerce sold them.

Extremely debatable that you can point to any clear policy correlation to the economic trajectory. The economy has been "humming" for several years on these same standards. It's a continuation not a change in trajectory.

Humming?
Really?

Due to obama's EIGHT years, there are 30-somethings who have never seen a normal economy in their entire career. You call that humming? 8 straight years of sub-3% growth under obamanomics. You call that humming? The poorest post-recession recovery in US history, and you call that humming?

Good Lord man!

As for what Trump has done to change that, aside from significant tax, trade, and regulatory improvements . . . aside from those small things . . . ?

Obama led us out of a recession you backwoods yokel. IF you look at Obama's Presidency from economic start to economic finish it is actually very impressive unless you are hopelessly biased. Which you are.

The majority of Americans disagree. Over 60% of Americans in 2016 exit poll rated economy as poor.

The economy did obviously improve from 2008 to 2016, but nowhere near the “very impressive” you claim it did.

That in itself is a biased statement

Hillary Clinton going to every swing state and saying the economy is great hurt her a lot with key voter groups who have not seen economic improvement

An appeal to popularity? From polls that you folks only think are real when they favor you? Please.

We went from the worst recession in decades to a recovery. If the same thing happened under a small government conservative you would be touting it as a referendum on your philosophy.

Are you aware that economies follow a natural business cycle? It is stupid to pin a “recovery” on policy

Economies naturally rise and fall

Wow. You do realize that logic also completely invalidates any claim that Trump has benefited the economy in every way. So in other words you agree with my post to Roger that stated any correlation to Trump was debatable. Nice

Edit: The string you jumped in on started with this:

quote: He's got the economy humming

My reply: Extremely debatable that you can point to any clear policy correlation to the economic trajectory. The economy has been "humming" for several years on these same standards. It's a continuation not a change in trajectory.

Policies affect the economy on the margin

But I can assure you that unless a hardcore socialist had won in 2008, the economy would have followed similar path regardless of who was in there.

Likewise, John Kerry would have experienced the great recession if he had won in 2004

Are you trying to walk a tight rope that allows you to assert that Obama had nothing to do with the recovery but Trump's election is responsible for 2017-2018?

Polling the public is a sure fire way to get stupid opinions. The economy was not weak in 2016.

The interesting thing is, he didn't. He rode Bush's coattails. That's it.

Obama rode Bush's economic policies. TARP, Taxes, etc for four years. He added to those constant class-warfare rhetoric, threats of major tax increases, substantial increases in healthcare costs, and substantial regulations.

Our economy and unemployment is doing so bad. We need the tariffs to help.

That can’t be true
