so you can argue it was climate change and not God, but there is evidence of a catastrophic flood event

Floods are common, so it's expected that many cultures have stories about floods.
A global flood has never happened though.
And I seriously doubt flood story timelines often match up, especially with respect to Noah's story. Assuming the Bible is 100% you can trace back through Jesus' lineage (assuming he was born at roughly the AD/BC split) and various other events in the Bible to determine the date of the flood.
It's something like 2250 or 2300 BC. Insane, right?
