Your family NEEDS you to work 60 hours a week?

Control your spending.

Wouldn't that be up to the employer?

salaried employees would have to request going hourly. in that case, their hourly rate would be less than their salaried rate I would assume.

the no tax on OT would have to be a permanent thing for most salaried people to even consider it IMO. but yes ultimately it's up to the employer.

I’m salary but it would be good for the economy. More money in employee pockets to then spend or save, pay down debt, etc.

Great move if it happens.

Any recent talk of this?
Of course not. It was dumb campaign talk and has no chance of happening. Nor should you want it to. It's already weird that so many of you "small government conservatives" even accept the feds defining overtime in the first place.

So the less they take in the less control they have.

I agree, take in less ("starve the beast"). I'm just saying that a new 'carve out' like this is a bad way to do it. It means more bureaucracy, and added compliance cost (hits small business the hardest). They will all need to change their payroll systems. Plus, as others have said, there's going to be a lot of 'adjustments' to overtime and salaried employees.

Just remove some other tax completely, get it off the books. Then you remove the compliance costs as well, which benefits everyone that matters.

Also helps companies not have to pay that part of payroll taxes.

Sames as tips, the businesses pay their share of taxes on those.

You are the one here saying no to lowering taxes.

Great idea.
While we’re at it, no tax on income.
