FIFY
It is like the 1930's are about to repeat and we are not paying attention
Putin is 1930's Stalin + Hitler
Jenping is 1930's Tojo
Merica is isolationist
Hoover's "tariff" solution has resurfaced
Few really really rich folks and lots of middle class getting poorer
Inventory in stores reminding me of the late 1920's / early 1930's
Intrest rates are cheaper, but from over leverage, not savings and investment

Say it ain't so, Milei
Javier Milei deepens Argentina’s IMF debt trap with ‘emergency’ loan
Bit slanted, but has more information.

Argentina's government published a decree on Tuesday backing a new International Monetary Fund (IMF) program, the most concrete step yet towards sealing a new deal that could help the embattled country meet its debts and ease capital controls.
Javier Milei deepens Argentina’s IMF debt trap with ‘emergency’ loan
quote:
One of Milei’s main promises, which he reiterated endlessly, was that he would not increase government debt.
In March, Milei broke this promise and revealed that he was issuing an emergency decree in order to request a loan from the IMF. The exact amount was not disclosed, but local media outlets estimated that it would be between $10 billion and $20 billion USD.
Bit slanted, but has more information.

Tariffs made the great depression worse. But what people aren't considering is global trade is much more significant now than it was then

If I can take a step back and just observe, forget the dire consequences,
and appreciate what’s happening, I find it hhilarious that Trumpers seem to think they have some sort of insight or wisdom about foreign and domestic policy and economics that escapes the general population…
Of course those same people believe Trump is a smart and successful businessman who wants to use the presidency and his “expertise” to “fix” the country, rather than the longtime huckster and short fingered vulgarian he really is …

I'm hardly a Trumper but I give some room for Trump given that absolute shitshow he was handed off, and yes - that includes the portion of the shitshow he presided over in his first term. Covid response was the 2-ton cherry on top of the shite sundae that's taken 25 years to build.
It's easy to be critical of Trump. I've done plenty of that myself, but unlike the criticism I leveled - about Covid response, for example - all those bitching and moaning today have scant little to say about what would be better.
So what's your plan? Explain in reasonable detail what you would do given the economic and fiscal circumstances that prevail today.

Not really possible, at this point.
That could have maybe worked the day Trump first took office in 2017, but not today.
This absolutely HAD YO BE HEARD on a Sunday at 7:06 AM.

more people last year used food banks than ever before. instead of a joseph, we had a biden the last 4 years
I have idea on that one. Joseph Biden was stacking the deck on government funding for some food banks, food stamps, and other government welfare programs that some of the food or money was distributed to some that didn’t need it.

The debt exploded too much since Trump took office. The math does not work on growing GDP to fix it.
Just to get deficit neutral would require a out a GDP increase of 8.5T (5*1.7)

We went from people screaming Bidenomics to now we needed a recession. LOLOLOLOL

Didn’t we have one under Potato head. The mainstream media wouldn’t recognize it or report it. Basically Trump inherited an economy in recession.
Thank you - we've been in one for the past 2.5 years but no one will acknowledge it.

And trade deficits mean far less now as well.

YOU needed a recession? Wow!

A market correction is not a recession.
