My opinion is that the Dems/Progressives initiated, supported, and/or utilized the caravan for political reasons, much like they used the “children in cages” to rally their base and gain points on the “compassionate middle”.

I think the Republicans/Conservatives countered with a political action to maximize the idea of the threat involved and responded with maximum actions (sending troops, talking tough) to rally their base and to gain points with the “law abiding middle”.

No one seems to know which political side is winning the argument. Both sides are ratcheting up the narrative until the mid-terms.

Having said all of that, the underlying debate of “compassion for less fortunate foreigners”, which is intentionally tinged with white guilt by the left, versus “respecting the rule of law and securing the borders” (which is painted as xenophobic by the left) is a debate that is very nuanced and will never go away.

The right is quite sick of being painted as nazis and racists. They are sick of the left’s self-righteous preening when the left can’t even propose any solution, much less a workable one.

The left has made such a dramatic hard left turn on this topic in such a short period of time that it’s a wonder they don’t have whiplash, and yet they are spewing the most vile hate and epithets at anyone who disagrees with them.

So, as far as political stunts go, I’d say yes. I’d also say that the left has lost their freaking minds and can’t have an adult conversation.

Why do you use the qualifying term “military” threat? You are using a Russell Conjugation for the term “invasion”. Not every invasion is a military invasion. He’ll, when I was a kid, we were worried about an invasion of killer bees coming from Mexico.

No one honestly believes there is a military style invasion coming, but an invasion of unvetted illegal aliens is an invasion nonetheless.

It poses a unique and significant threat to U.S. sovereignty. If this group gets in, whoever the heck they are, that would open the flood gate even wider for more to come in. Do you think that enemies of the U.S. and criminals wouldn’t try to take advantage of that?

Some of us have the very reasonable opinion that it’s not worth the risk.

I really do earn well and I will continue to do so but that doesn't Define me as a person. I have everything that I need including a sense of belonging. It doesn't come from money my father made.

I think you’re thinking way too hard about this. All of your questions stand on the premise that this is unprecedented and no other caravans have ever came. Larger caravans have taken longer trips and have come to the country and applied for asylum without George Sorros paying for them. Please stop.

No! It's to stop an invasion. Sending troops for border security does not help Trump's favorability with Latino/Hispanic voters but he's not concerned with those votes when it comes to the security of the nation.
