She's on the morally repugnant side of that one.

Do you buy shoes every week?
How do you know there will be no long term affect on Nike sales after only one week of revealing the ad?

No one really cares about Nike in reality. It's just easy fodder here.

There were multiple threads about people starting Nike boycotts. The city of Kenner just banned Nike from their sports programs. I mean, maybe no one really cares, but they're sure acting like it

What did you think was going to happen?

People sell off, while others are still happy to make money. They purchase the now lower nike stock, boosting it back up hoping to make a quick buck.

The lowered stock price wasn't data driven as the data isn't out yet to show whether this was a poor choice or not. It will be clear whenever quarterly reports come out, specifically next quarter, whether this was good or bad for Nike

They used extra slave labor to achieve this. I hope you're happy.

So?

Why does this issue mean that liberals have to staunchly defend Nike? It just seems weird that liberals have taken up Nike as something that needs to be defended

I find it funny the corporations that the Left attach themselves to. Companies like Apple, and apparently Nike now, yet they view companies like Wal Mart as evil.

Which company do you think helps the poor community more?

A company that sells overpriced, worthless shoes and apparel, and who markets it directly towards the poorest minority group who probably shouldn't be spending that kind of money on shoes?

A company that sells ridiculously overpriced electronics?

Or a company that provides more cost friendly food and goods than any other company in the country?

Yet if you did a favorability poll on these 3 companies I'd bet good money Nike and Apple would greatly out poll Wal Mart if polling the Left.

Don't use logic with BamaAtM. She doesn't handle logic very well.

It's not like your only two options are boycott or defend to the death everything about Nike. I think most liberals just generally support the ads message, maybe enough to buy some shoes or something. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't think supporting the ad means you support slave labor.

I mean, do you check the origins of everything you buy? If not, do you support slave labor?

Im wearing nike shoes right now. This issue is a nonstarter for me. I am just genuinely surprised by the new corporatist mindset of the left nowadays.

Some of them need their boycott to be successful, and the market is how they'll validate that.

Eventually, they'll have enough data to cherry-pick from to get their desired outcome.

They should be legal, and rare.

Again, anti-choice folks pretend that making abortions illegal will solve all of their problems, instead of attempting to address the issues behind abortions (sex ed, poverty, child care, maternal/child health care).

Making them illegal - your stance - will lead to more abortions, and more dangerous abortions, which will result in more dead women.

Republicans cared quite a bit about Nike last week - especially the Republicans on this board.

The dumb shits that burned their shoes had to go out and buy new shoes. By this time they already forgot why they burned their shoes and bought Nike.
