Nightmare Scenario unfolding in Kabul

Without the Kabul Airport, we have no easy way to remove our people still in Afghanistan.
Reports are coming in now that the airport is underfire.
The nearest Carrier is a 2 hour flight away. We'll need a massive helicopter airlift from the Embassy to get our people out.
The 5K troops on their way to the theater may not have a place to land.
The Taliban can sit back and dictate terms to us for removing our people, or they can just try to over run the embassy.
Shits getting real.

Imagine if that “Repatriation assessment” ends up in the hands of a local who flips to Taliban.

If only we had some troops specifically trained in seizing an airfield.

We're going to have to massively escalate to take control of Kabul, I'm not sure we can bring enough force to bear quickly enough.
With the Taliban already in the city, the only way to get them out is to fight a nasty urban battle in a city of millions of people.
We'll need WAY more combat power on the ground to do this than we currently have in theater.

We don't need to sieze the airport, we already have it.
It isn't hard to shut down an airport, that's all the Taliban have to do. 2 guys and a mortar tube can accomplish it from miles away.
The smallest mortar we use, 60mm, has a range of over 2 miles. That makes for a really big perimeter we would have to establish just to protect against those.

As a female, that’s my thought as well. Not all there are good (like here in America) but I’m sure that there are hardworking people just like us here. Those are the ones my heart hurts for.

We are going to end up in a situation where either:
1. The Taliban are going to sit back and mortar the Americans to death OR
2. The Americans get surrounded and captured and Pedo joe is either going to give them billions for the hostages or put a nuclear bomb on Kandahar.
