I never said you were wrong or argued what you said was unlikely. I was unaware the NFL had different policies for coaches and players regarding vaccination.

It’s definitely less than that

From hhs.gov regarding HIPAA:

“Most of us believe that our medical and other health information is private and should be protected, and we want to know who has this information. The Privacy Rule, a Federal law, gives you rights over your health information and sets rules and limits on who can look at and receive your health information.”

Some things may not technically violate hipaa while violating the spirit of the legislation which was to create an atmosphere where your health information was treated as sacrosanct and your privacy was respected.

And, it could be argued that HIPAA was put in place to protect workers from discrimination by employers, as well as, with insurance companies and basically anything. It is our business and ours alone.

Sue the hell out of mask and vax pushers. Damn drug pushers.

You’re appealing to the government to protect you from the government.

You’re not going to win that.

I’m not saying don’t fight. I’m saying keep your eyes open.

Things are getting ready to go back to mask mandates here in St. Louis county

Mask mandates at this time are just politicians trolling citizens.

And, throwing their perceived power around. It will stop when the people are sick and tired of being sick and tired of it.

It is a dangerous game that tyrannical politicians play to stroke their egos.

An employer has to keep health info as confidential as possible but can disclose on a need to know basis for purposes of enforcing policies.

Wrong. I work in health insurance. We are NOT allowed to disclose names along with conditions to employers. If an employee chooses not to disclose any health information, they cannot be compelled by an employer to do so.

The insurance cannot disclose that information to an employer; therefore, the employer has no access to it. We can give them statistical information on the group as a whole, but we cannot reveal names of employees and their diagnoses.

The employer offers the health insurance. That’s it. They have no right to see how an individual uses that policy.

An employer asking an employee to disclose their vaccination status is a violation of HIPAA.

Insurance is a covered entity. Employer cannot ask you for information.

Employer can ask employee for information every hour of every day.

The players follow the policy per the NFL Players union agreement with the NFL

The union has protected its members where they cannot get cut and will be paid whether they’re vaccinated or not

I just can’t see how this makes a lick of sense at all. I knkw they can do what they want but in my mind it’s just nuts.

Can someone make me understand how this protects the health of anyone??

Edit: I get that coaches and Players can have different contracts but if you combine the vac and unvaccinated it’s not about health in my mind at that point. I’m not explaining what I am thinking very well.

Different rules for different people is not about safety.

It isn’t. It likely should be a violation of privacy rights. It isn’t a violation of HIPAA.

No it doesn't. People don't understand HIPPA. It only applies to Healthcare providers releasing patient health information.

So all we have to do is say we’re vaccinated and no one can prove otherwise, correct? At the least we can produce a fake certificate and no dr or nurse can say whether or not it’s real, since doing so would release my health information

HIPAA was put in place under Clinton in 1996. Title I, the insurance portability part was first. A magazine tried to extort money from Arthur Ashe as they threatened to release the fact that he had AIDS. He bowed up and went public on his own. The privacy part (Title II) went into effect in 2003 although they had been working on the rules since 96.
