There’s no opt out? How’s that work?
It's been awhile, but when my son was in elementary the school had free for all breakfasts. A cooler showed up with as many breakfasts as there were students.
The breakfast food was highly processed crap.

Feeding kids isn't hurting anyone. It is a silly thing to complain about.

No, I’m going to complain about any and all social safety net provided by American taxpayers. If you can’t afford to feed your kids breakfast and lunch, don’t have kids. They aren’t going to amount to anything anyhow.

Been happening for years at other school districts.
Considering the things they usually blow money on, I'm OK with this one.

Some kids kust gonna fail just for the free food.

You guys act like you pay all the taxes by yourselves. The vast majority support this. If you do not like the current setup, then make the 1% pay it.

They fed them donut sticks and sour candy coated raisins at our elementary. Feeding kids crap isn't helping them.
Now, if they had a giant vat of scrambled eggs, meat and toast- that'd be one thing- but they fed them crap when I saw it happening.

Training for success means teaching them what they need to know, morons

and that’s how we’ve slowly been bled out. women and weak men justifying each and every cut, slash, or hack. I’ll say it again, frick social safety nets and anyone who needs them. survive or don’t, not sure why i have to pay for it.

they aren’t going to eat that and Buckl knows it, he’d feed them whatever they asked for, it’s on your dime!

The American taxpayer should not have to bail out these states when they go bankrupt.

That’s why I like giving the food directly to them at school better than relaying on mom to use some of her EBT on it and send them with a meal.
This. It costs the tax payer a frick load less feeding them at a school than it would in EBT.

do you want to take another swing before I reply?
I’m in school traffic after dropping my kids off at a private daycare I pay for, after feeding my kids a healthy breakfast. Magically, none of which cost the taxpayers a single cent.

My cousin and her daughter both teach school.
We were talking about this last wkend.
They said alot of kids get the meals and dont eat them. All they eat is junk food at home and anything remotley healthy they wont touch. Large amounts of food thrown away daily.

What do you want a 2nd grader to do? How does a poor kid with no money eat? Get a job?
How about having the parent(s) who are already getting tax money given to them to feed the 2nd grader actually feed their own child?
Is that too difficult to comprehend?

are the parents ebt balance getting reduced by these "free" school meals. If not, it just opens up more on the card for the parents to be even more wasteful with it.
Idk but I would be fine if they did. But it’s probably more hassle than it’s worth. Just feed the kids. Idk why this is so controversial.
