New study finds tragic factor contributing to thousands of gun deaths nationwide

Gun violence is already a pressing public health concern in the U.S., and a new study has found a troubling link between it and the overheating of our planet.

What’s happened?
As temperatures across the country soar and unseasonably warm days continue, the number of gun deaths across the country has gone up.

Nearly 8,000 gun shootings can be attributed to extreme temperatures, according to research published by JAMA Network.

The study analyzed 100 major U.S. cities with the highest proportion of gun violence between 2015 and 2020. It found that out of 116 ,511 shootings, roughly 6.85% (or 7,973) were attributable to above-average temperatures.

Gun violence, as well as other types of violence, such as road rage, is known to worsen in the summer. Warmer temperatures increase the body’s stress hormones in the nervous system, which may heighten violent impulses.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say the Babylon Bee nailed it again.

Over 70% of homicides victims and perps are known criminals.

The computer climate sims predict that warming will take place toward the poles not toward the equator. The loopy dumb arse climate cultists don't even study their own sims.

I'm sure this happens every year as temperatures rise.

There is a certain demographic factor contributing to gun deaths. But you're not supposed to notice that one.

This is exactly why they want to label math, science, history, the fricking English language, etc. as racist.

This way, we can ignore significant information and not use real data to come to conclusions that aren’t “problematic.”

True to a degree…

Hard to have major shootouts in Chicago during subzero weather, which is why no one bought the Juicy Smolley “MAGA attack”.

Wow, people lose their temper more when it's hot. Earth-shattering news I tell you.

And that's just in New Orleans! Wait until John Kerry reverses the damage by knocking off some of the agricultural emissions that number will be knocked down by at least 90% according to my study I just released.

Didn’t someone have a statistic showing the sharp rise in domestic violence complaints when the local sports team loses too?

It makes sense that in northern cities people are out and about during the summer more than the winter. In Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, the backdrop was a summer heatwave that drove everyone out on to the stoops and the streets because the houses didn’t have A/C. The stress of the heat and the amount of people outside ignites the violence. I know the police in NJ would hope for rain during a hot summer Saturday because it would drive the people back inside.

Just as soaring temperatures and gun violence are linked, the study suggests that measures to slow down the overheating of our planet could reduce shootings, too.

Increasing green spaces in cities have been shown to bring gun violence down, multiple studies have shown.

This is partly because greenery reduces the urban heat island effect, where cities have a hotter average temperature than suburbs because they tend to have more heat-absorbing asphalt and fewer trees and grass. This urban heat island effect tends to impact Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous-dominated communities the most.

The study’s authors have called for more analysis to be done on the link between structural racial inequalities and ambient heat, and how that impacts gun deaths.

And the majority of gun related deaths overall are suicides.

In short 90% of gun deaths are mental health/moral bankruptcy issues and therefore it's not the gun.. it's the tragically flawed human.

Another fun stat, you are 50 times more likely to die from fentanyl or a US Govt made biovirus or vaccine than you are from a non self inflicited gunshot.
