President Donald Trump has made it clear he believes special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia and his 2016 presidential campaign is a “witch hunt,” his phraseology for a politically motivated investigation.

But now, a new poll reveals an increasing number of Americans would agree with the president’s assessment that Mueller’s investigation is politically tainted.

According to the Rasmussen poll, which was released last week, just 46 percent of likely U.S. voters believe Mueller’s investigation is “an honest attempt to determine criminal wrongdoing.” That’s down from 52 percent when the same question was polled in the same survey last October.

Meanwhile, 40 percent of respondents told Rasmussen they believe Mueller’s investigation has morphed into “a partisan witch hunt.” That’s up eight points from October’s poll, when just 32 percent said Mueller’s probe is partisan.

Fourteen percent are undecided whether or not politics is negatively influencing the integrity of the investigation.
