They are the type of people that dine in expensive New Orleans restaurant that pat themselves on the back for being smarter, more caring and better than everyone else while suing a city ran by politicians that dine at expensive New Orleans restaurants that pat themselves on the back for being smarter, more caring and better than everyone else. There is a word for that, I think.

Wonder where he went to school.

Is privatization of the school system good or is it bad in New Orleans?

Like most things, it has pros and cons.

CMOs funnel millions of $ intended to be used to educate children into massive reserves and huge salaries for "administrators".

All part of the plan, my friend.

It’s the colonization of our public school system.

You have to allow gifted students the ability to excell by making admission standards higher. If you start making accommodations, then you do a disservice to those gifted students. Sometimes things in life are not fair but that is how life is.

Nonsense. Mandeville High School gifted students get into as good of colleges as any private school and can still teach typical and special needs children.

The child in the article is profoundly disabled. I’m sure he requires diapering and potentially a feeding tube. Cognitively, he’s 12-24 months old. This is beyond making typical accommodations and modifications of curriculum. I do not think it’s reasonable to expect every single school in a district to have the staff and equipment necessary to safely teach a child with his needs.

Great another loon getting a worthless accreditation who will then expect their useless opinions to carry weight.

I’d like to read this. I have many theories on it.

A lot of my friends (liberal and conservative) refuse to send their kids to the public school options in town, including Willow and Franklin.

'must create a customized curriculum for Oscar' - that's called homeschooling on your own dime, dimwits. Hire a tutor and aide for the kid, whatever. But schools can't and should not have to create 'customized' curricula for every disabled student out there.

It’s going to end up being an encyclopedia. I have a lot of perspective as a former charter school teacher and now charter school parent.
