So says Charles Krauthammer.

quote:

The discovery, over a year after the September 11, 2012 terror attack in Benghazi, of an e-mail from a White House political operative that shows him suggesting that former United Nations ambassador Susan Rice underscore that the attack was a reaction to an Internet video is, according to Charles Krauthammer, like the discovery of the Nixon tapes that blew open the Watergate scandal in 1973.

“It’s to me the equivalent of what was discovered with the Nixon tapes,” Krauthammer said Thursday. “The point is that Republicans have done a terrible job in building the case. Even today I have to say, the questioning was disjointed, it was not organized. If they had appointed a special committee [a] long time ago the way it was done in Watergate, you would have had answers on this and the country wouldn't be tired.”

well there you have it folks. Another example of the liberal brilliance at work. A reply filled with links, references, and logical thought out organized points of rebuttal.

You just cant see it because like obama's recovery...it's "transparent".

Agree with this statement 100%... But to tie it to that of Watergate is

I said it yesterday and I'll say it again. The coverup is worse than the actual action in this instance.

Seriously, the email discovery might be akin to the Nixon Watergate tapes but the big difference is Nixon was Republican so expect a meh reaction from the media on Benghazi.

Now if the tables were turned and Obama was GOP, DC would be a shitstorm of media "doing their job".

the substance of the allegation is about politics playing a role in what rice said on tv, and the election, not what actually took place on sept 11. I mean, some critique of the response but everything I have seen has been about Rice's statement. After those people were dead.

But watergate was a crime... This was just a complete frick up on the State Depts account in how they handled a combat situation.

They lied to cover their arse instead of admitting they dropped the ball.

Trick question: Which POTUS was attempting to influence the outcome of a national election. Which POTUS lied to us on TV?

i don't really comment on Benghazi stuff, but it doesn't even appear on the Wiki entry for list of federal scandals

while Bush has this listed

quote:

Claude Allen Appointed as an advisor by President George W. Bush (R) on Domestic Policy, Allen was arrested for a series of felony thefts in retail stores. He was convicted on one count and resigned soon after.

You ask ten different Republicans what the scandal in the Benghazi Scandal is and you're likely to get ten different answers.

Nixon attempted to cover up his own involvement in crimes. There was nothing criminal in anything Obama, Rice, or Clinton did or said regarding Benghazi. Krauthammer is a joke.

Hell, Rice didn't even definitely blame the video. She said it was the best assessment and that the FBI would give us a more definitive answer following an investigation. That's SCANDALOUS?

Both of them.

And the bush campaign did some pretty rotten things in 2004 too.

Its fricking politics. I am not saying what they did wasn't wrong, just that I think this isn't the same level of watergate. Watergate directly connected Nixon to the crime and the coverup. This email doesn't do this, just connects aids to the issue.

its wishful thinking on the part of the republicans around here.

Obama said this in his press conference with Merkel. Can anyone find any irony in this statement?
