I keep saying that apparently declarations of emergency suddenly make all government officials dictators

It's gotten absurd. There is no rational reading of the Constitution that would imply that literally the entire thing melts away with a simple emergency declaration

Not saying the article writer's headline is incorrect...but it sure as hell reads that way. (I suspect you are probably right...he limited it...but not what the article headline or the first paragraph says......) What a horribly written article....

After further consideration, I'm mellowing on this.

Nevada wanted this turd. They got him.

All the article says is that prescriptions should be limited to a 30 day supply. I’m no fan of this guy, but I think your headline is misleading and inaccurate.

UMMM..

quote:

Nevada’s governor has signed an emergency order barring the use of anti-malaria drugs for someone who has the coronavirus. Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak’s order Tuesday restricting chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine comes after President Donald Trump touted the medication as a treatment for the virus. Trump last week falsely stated that the Food and Drug Administration had just approved the use of chloroquine to treat patients infected with coronavirus. After the FDA’s chief said the drug still needs to be tested for that use, Trump overstated the drug’s potential benefits in containing the virus. Sisolak said in a statement that there’s no consensus among experts or Nevada doctors that the drugs can treat people with COVID-19. His order also limits a prescription to a 30-day supply so that people cannot find a way to stockpile the drug and ensure it’s available for “legitimate medical purposes.”

How can a governor decide what a doctor prescribes?

Try to get marijuana prescribed in Iowa? Governor vetoed it last year.

At this point in the country I’m not sure any government official has a real good feel for what the limit of their actual powers are. It’s a recipe for anarchy, I mean think about the fact that a judge in Hawaii was interfering with legislation that was clearly constitutional to the point that the Supreme Court essentially had to issue a warning to him in their write up.

We’re consistently operating so far outside the founding documents and it’s like no one gives a shite anymore.

It really is terrifying. Democrats can shite on the constitution as being an outdated document written by a bunch of white men all they want, but the second we stop abiding by it and start governing off the cuff, we introduce the possibility for regional anarchy and chaos. If government doesn’t have its foundation firmly established in clearly written precepts, then who the hell makes the rules?

So:

1- docs can’t prescribe it to treat Coronavirus

And

2- no one is permitted to stock pile it in case it treats Coronavirus and may be needed for widespread use.

Twilight zone shite raht-chair.

Do you guys even bother reading the article?

It's a temporary ban. It's because the treatment has not been FDA approved AND he doesn't want people hoarding the drug (have you not seen what people are doing with TP?).

Once the FDA approves it, I'm sure people can then be using it for treatment.

where did he gain this awesome authority? And he could have prevented hoarding without banning doctors from choosing to use it on coronavirus patients

So your point falls flat

But how can trump look bad now? We can debate the start of this thing but he has pushed with success a cocktail that is working. What pissed me off is the LT gov of texas. Glad he is ready to leave his grandchildren forever but I’m not ready to lose my parents ( my daughters grand parents). I do believe we have to get back to work. Sooner rather than later. Keep working on a vaccine, push what’s working and get the stimulus passed ( with out the bs) and lets all move forward.
