If you want to really simplify it, it comes down to big government vs. small government mentality.

What entity wielded such power that it enabled companies like Comcast, ATT and Verizon to have a monopolistic environment where they could possibly control so much?
Thank you.
This is a fricking GOVERNMENT PROBLEM, and a GOVERNMENT SOLUTION will only yields a BIGGER GOVERNMENT PROBLEM.
Guys, we have seen this shite over and over and over and over again. Government creates a skewed market. People look at the skewed market itself without bothering to look at why it is skewed. They then look to the creators of the problem and give them even more power so they can fix the problem… .who the hell wants to guess how that has turned out for us EVERY frickING TIME?

This post alone shows you have no real understanding of this topic.

Ill intentions or not, if you ran a company how much gov't regulation would you want?
You misunderstand how regulations work. All of those companies want copious amounts of regulation.

Are you suggesting a cause and effect relationship? If so, how did net neutrality make censorship easier or more likely in 2015?

I hope those airbag and seatbelt regulations on those government invested interstates don’t harm you too much on your way to Thanksgiving. Before eating that turkey and fixings you aren’t too bummed out that as long as prepared properly, your meal isn’t going to poison and kill your family. That if you feel you over ate, you can frustratingly throw back that Zantac you take for your heartburn with reasonable assurances that it isn’t accidentally tainted with rat poison. After your nap, maybe fire back up that computer and get on the government investment backed internet and tell us how government 100% always gets it wrong.

Did that solve a GOVERNMENT CREATED problem?
Oh wait, none of your examples are comparable to NN.
Try again.
Try more along the lines of Community Reinvestment Act and Dodd/Frank.

This is the most correct statement I've seen on this topic.

You're right, not all regulations are created equal. Regulation that benefits them sure.
NN does not do that in this case though.

Guys, this is a single regulation that the ISPs don't want. They ABSOLUTELY WANT government control though. You want to give government(and ISPs through money and power) control of the system so you get this one regulation.
It's like giving an arson a lighter and gasoline so he doesn't have access to a match.

What’s to stop an ISP from charging one price for access to all internet like we have now when all other ISPs are throttling service/only allowing access to certain websites?
Would consumers not be willing to possibly pay a little more for all access to the internet instead of using the other services who are limiting service?
