Just taking a guess, I suspect Saudi is mad about the UAE leaving OPEC and Trump's public support of it.

Is this the thread where we celebrate Iran winning the war

There is zero chance Iran could ever "win" this war. The narrative that people are pulling for this is pathetic.

What can happen is, like Vietnam and Afghanistan, we spend so much time dicking around with no real coherent policy and all our effort is wasted.

I guess I should say Trump just doesn’t have the willpower to take it. Too concerned with approval polls and media blowback.

This story is bullshite. NBC is trying to stir things up. It should be treason.

A Saudi source told NBC News

Asked whether the announcement of Project Freedom caught the Saudi leaders by surprise, the Saudi source said: “The problem with that premise is that things are happening quickly in real time.” The source said Saudi Arabia was “very supportive of the diplomatic efforts” by Pakistan to broker a deal between Iran and the U.S. to end the war.

A White House official said in a statement when asked about some Gulf state leaders being caught off guard by the announcement of the U.S. effort to help ships transit the Strait of Hormuz, “Regional allies were notified in advance.”

I’m guessing doesn’t want to go down in the history books as a leader that ordered the genocide of millions of Persians

If it weren't for the United States, Kuwait wouldn't exist.

Why would Trump taking the strait or kharg island involve Trump killing millions of Persians?

Unless you are saying that would trigger the ayatollah to kill millions of Persians.

In which case why are you ok with that murderous regime staying?

It was a stated goal at the start to have regime change with a better regime. Clearly that hasn’t happened if we are scared of triggering genocide.

Ryan Grim/Jeremy Scahill/Drop Site has been great during this conflict. But, I'm sure this will be dismissed as fake news.

Anonymous sources should always be dismissed. This is a lesson everyone should have learned over the past 10 years.

If an anonymous source said Iran was ready to surrender, you would dismiss it.

Throughout this entire conflict, your crew has believed fake news while steadily making up your own. You have even dismissed the words of your own president but believed the terrorists. You have no moral high ground here.

They sold Trump on a load of shite that Iran was near regime collapse and just needed a push.

We do not form our intel beliefs of Iran from SA. You have it bassackwards. Trump sold them a bill of good... the destruction of the IRGC. Now he is trying to cut a deal that leaves them intact.

They are the ones that have had the rug pulled out from under them. We had to do something never done before... convince them to oppose Iran and support Israel and now Trump is reneging on his promises.

So who is the bad ally here?

They are likely struggling, but we have under estimated their ability to do so.

Why would this be a red line for Saudi’s?
They want to keep oil prices high?
