NBC News issued a correction Sunday for a tweet erroneously claiming President Trump called Confederate general Robert E. Lee "incredible."

The tweet came hours after Trump assailed the news outlet for misleading its audience about what he had said during a rally Friday night.

"CORRECTION: An earlier tweet misidentified the general President Trump described as 'incredible' at a rally in Ohio. It was Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, not Gen. Robert E. Lee. An attached video clip lacked the full context for Trump's remark," NBC News' Twitter account said, along with a longer clip offering further context.

This was not a mistake. They did it on purpose

What's the old saying - how do you unsee something that you've already see? Like you say, that shite was done on purpose and they will continue to do it. Integrity doesn't mean doodly to the media when they have an agenda to carry out.

Hey, I almost give NBC credit for the retraction. I guess Trump's tweet got them to change their fake news story.

I did say almost. They should never have painted the narrative the way they did. It was clear Trump was praising Grant.

It isn't even remotely racist to say Lee was a great general. He was. But of course we live in an age where you can't say a single nice thing even if factual about someone fighting for the south.

Liberals have become nothing more than Taliban Lite, wanting to rewrite and destroy any history they don't like.

They know what they’re doing. They put certain feelings and false info in people’s head and only a small percentage will fact check or hear the correction. They’ve been doing this and it’s nothing new. It’s easy to do for people who have their minds made up already. It’s disgusting.

Exactly. Hitler had serious determination and had some qualities and viewpoints that could have made him a great leader. That mere statement will lump me in with being pro-genocide to many.

The media has money, more money, and full control over the brainless sheeple. That is their strength.

We have functioning brains, the capacity for abstract thought, and our guns. That is our strength.

See why they want our guns? Thank GOD Almighty that the GOP Has found their testicles, at least for now, at this critical time in political history.

Liberal media playbook:

Intentionally post a false or misleading tweet, let it marinate for hours and get retweeted and spread hundreds of thousands of times.

Post a correction a day later that gets shared 12 times and then claim you're not fake news because you owned up to the "mistake".

Lee is pretty much universally lauded as one of the greatest military leaders in world history, so if he said he was incredible what would be the problem?

Well I can see how it happened Robert E sounds so errily like Ulysses S. and NBC can't be faulted. Also Grant/Lee are both common American sir names so again making that mistake is easy.

Their press folks should be suspended from all press briefings for a month due to this "mistake".

Even if one could claim it wasn't intentional, these kinds of "mistakes" happen when you're agency is "excited" when they have shite that makes a politician look bad rather than disappointed.

IE.......you think Hillary or Obama said something dumb, you re-verify it 100 different ways. You think Trump said something bad...............HURRY HURRY>.............GET IT OUT THERE!!! There's no knee jerk desire to be sure.

True

The only civil war general I would consider his superior would be Stonewall Jackson. The man was a tactical genius.

In relation to the statement about Lee? Not so much.

The media does this thing all the time.

The report on the false or sensationalized non-sense and get their mileage out of it before silently issuing a 'correction' later that only a tiny % of people ever see.

A lie travels half way around the world before the truth puts his shoes on.
