Being murdered by the government you fought to protect. This perfectly describes the authoritarian depravity of modern America.

Lets make sure to further defund the police so that training for situations like this never happens. Good job libs.

So, not to be a boot licker, but if there is one thing I have learned is media leaves things out.

Just because the guy was around a cop, this doesn't mean the cop killed him.

Excited delirium or whatever it is called kills a lot of people. It's basically an overdose.

Lots of people overdose, when they start acting strange cops are called and they die from an overdose.

At this point all we know is he died in custody. If the knee on neck killed him, cop is in trouble. If he died from overdose, that is a tragedy.

Sadly many people who have mental health issues self medicate and suffer overdoses.

The sister of Angelo Quinto, 30, called police on Dec. 23 after noticing her brother had been exhibiting signs of mental distress...Quinto had been exhibiting signs of anxiety, depression and paranoia in the months prior to his death

“...he was actually passive and visibly not dangerous or a threat,” Quinto-Collins, who also goes by her middle name Cassandra
Maybe don't call the police then? If he's passive, bring him to a doctor or hospital?

I think it's time police just start refusing to handle some of these calls. They are not, never have been, and never will be mental health professionals.

I don't call the AC guy when I have a sprinkler problem. Why call the police when your family member is sad?

How the frick does an officer plead ignorance of the dangers of prone restraint with neck or chest compression?

It’s fricking mind blowing.

This gets repeated two dozen times a year and the police officials trot out with a bland “how could we have known” statement after every one of them.

That would probably be a good thing.

lol. There’s no case of “excited delirium” killing someone without restraint. You don’t fall over dead from excited delirium.

Do you think there’s police agencies that haven’t been trained in the dangers of prone restraint yet? If they haven’t, it’s not a funding issue.

Can't get past the fake news' paywall. So, fake news that I'm not going to pay for.

Details still matter to a few of us.

It's not a paywall. Or at least not for me. I paused my adblocker and read the article.

I think it's important to read the opposition's viewpoint. I know going into a HuffPo or NYT or Atlantic article I'm gonna probably develop a headache, but I don't mind knowing where the argument is going to come from.

It’s a comorbidity

I've got 10 years of uniform patrol experience from my younger years. After arriving quickly and safely, parking and entering as to not obliterate evidence and identifying all parties involved, the next big question is - WHERE IS THE CRIME?

If that shite was civil and not criminal, adios fellas. I used to tell folks "I'm not the feelings police."

Clearly he didn't watch enough of the George Floyd coverage, or he would have known.

You mean that when you restrain someone and compress their chest and/or neck, it’s a comorbid condition that brings about death?

Alternatively, goofy citizens can stop calling law enforcement when there are no laws needing to be enforced.
